That’s a Wrap Week 1...Friday Eve
What a difference a week makes. I feel far more confident today then I did just 5 days ago. I’m seeing some very interesting things happen in my kiddos. My man-child has hated school from kindergarten. He was failed forward from 2nd grade on through 8th grade. I really expected him to give me the greatest amount of grief over homeschooling. This week he has taken an interest in History (we introduced 2 more episodes from the previously mentioned show). He has mastered more concepts in Math in 1 week then he did the entire first quarter of his Freshman year. He picked up a book and read. What?? If you knew him, you’d understand the surprise & our excitement. Okay, so we’re on a good path with him. Does anyone have any good suggestions for HS level Sciences? My oldest daughter, my beautiful nerd, plowed thru her assignments without blinking an eye. She needs more. I’ve got to step up her curriculum. She is beyond ready to be challenged. She’s soaking up everything we discuss. She hears everything. She absorbs everything. Not that they all don’t, but she’s in tune; seriously in tune. Back to the drawing board for her, not that what we have needs to go away; but it’s time to add some steroids. And then there’s LittleBit. My dreamer. My little lovebug. The one who would shadow me all day long and do anything I asked, as long as I’m with her doing it. She’s going to challenge me. She’s smarter than she thinks, she just has not learned how to process all the information coming at her quickly. She’s my 20 minute attention span kid. She’s my reward me with stars kid. She’s my crawl in my lap and read to me mommy kid. I think it’s time to send mommy to school to learn some tricks on dealing with this kind of learner.
