Hercules was just as confused as Megara was when her name was read aloud, and if he hadnât exchanged a glance with Tiffany, be may have even been more confused. He watched Meg walk up to the stage, his smile increasing as she got closer. It felt like a dream, almost, to be watching her walk up there after having assumed that Tiffany or one of the other girls on court would get the title. For a minute, he even considered asking Phil to pinch him, though if it wre a drema, he wanted to enjoy it as much as possible. The reality sank in once she was standing beside him, slipping her hand into his.Â
âNo, Iâm just as clueless as you,â he let out a breathy laugh. Squeezing her hand affectionately, Hercules realized that it wasnât a dream at all, and they were actually both standing there, about to be crowned the King and Queen. âI think I might know who did, thoughâŚâ the male added, nudging toward Tiffany, who, when they both turned to her, was motioning down into the crowd at Kristoff. They both looked over at the two, smiling mischievously, as the crown and tiara were placed onto Hercules and Megaraâs heads, respectively. âI guess if you want something badly enough it can come true,â he teased, flashing her a smile as they were given their sashes as well.Â
âKristoff and Tiff?â Megara murmured under her breath, not sure that she actually believed what was happening. But she was there, on that stage, and suddenly there was a tiara on her head and a sash around her that read âProm Queenâ. She was practically pulled down the stairs as the sea of students parted ways, giving them room to dance. It wasnât until her hands nestled lightly at the back of Herculesâ neck that she realized she could speak again. âA write-in is hard to get the votes for...you really had no idea?â Not that Megara wasnât popular, but she hadnât run. For Tiffany and Kris especially, who didnât even go to the school, get that many votes for her was-- well, she didnât understand why, but she still appreciated it just the same. A tiny part of her, though she hated to admit it, really had wanted to be nominated.Â
It wasnât until a few moments later that she spotted someone pushing through the crowd, though she thought nothing of it at the time. It was probably some drunk teenager trying to get to his friends, and Megara immediately moved her attention back to Hercules. âI love you,â she said quietly, as if it were some sort of confession, more heartfelt than other times sheâd said it. âI canât believe I almost didnât come tonight.âÂ
