YOU'RE A RED STRING TIED TO MY FINGER | CARWOOD
Elwood Hudson almost jumped when he was abruptly awoken from his slumber, since his canine companion happily licking his hand to wake him up had spooked him in his dreams. Nearly to the point where he fell back in the chair he had fell asleep in. As he finally adjusted back to reality, he realized where he was and what he was doing. Elwood had been working on some essay for his classes and had passed out at his desk working on it. He chuckled at his actions before turning his attention to the dog sitting on the ground next to him wagging his tail. "Oh, sorry, buddy. You want to go for a walk, right?" Elwood smiled cheerfully as he scratched the border collie behind the ears.
The tall brunette stretched as he stood and made his way over to the hook on the wall where Malakai's leash hung and pulled it down from the wall. Elwood squatted down closer to the ground and patted the space in front of him. "Come here, boy." Elwood called and was pleased when his furry friend came instantly to the spot he had patted. He clipped the leash to Kai's collar before standing up. "Alrighty, you ready to go?" At an excited bark from his dog, he opened the door and stepped out of his tiny second floor apartment.
Once Elwood and Malakai reached the streets they began their usually path. The one they have taken just about everyday since they moved into the apartment, which was around ten months ago. They were comfortable here, and he didn't mind the big city. They were happy in New York. Elwood had figured they were just going to have a normal walk, and he'd return back home and finish his essay. But, that wasn't the case. When they reached the second turn on their walk, Malakai sniffed the air before letting loose an excited bark as he began tugging Elwood the other way. Of course, Elwood could hold him back as he was strong enough to, but he allowed the dog to pull him. Maybe he was bored of walking the same way everyday?
The two walked for a while, passing many stops Elwood had never seen along the way. But, Kai didn't stop pulling Elwood along. Which was confusing, if he just wanted to go a different way why would he keep pulling? The tall brunette was pulled from his thoughts by Kai's happy barking. Elwood's eyes suddenly caught what he was barking at. In the crowded streets stood a beautiful latina he could never forget. Carmen Lopez. Of course, it could easily also be Alex Lopez or Santana Lopez, but Elwood knew it was Carmen. He could just feel it.
Elwood debated even saying anything to her, for fear of her not even remembering him. But, he shook his head. Even if she had never shown any romantic interest in him, at least any that he knew of, they had still been best friends. She had to have remembered him, what was he even thinking? He raced ahead through the crowd with Kai shortly ahead. Once he finally reached the girl he had once been in love with, he was huffing and Kai was barking excitedly at her with his tail wagging rappidly. "Uhm, h-hey there, Carmen." was all that he could think to sputter out as he rubbed the back of his neck nervously.
