“As long as you’re not using it an excuse,” she said with a laugh. “But if you were, I’d completely agree. C'est la vie and all that, right?”
“Exactly!” She nodded in agreement, smiling at the woman. “This city is amazing, so many drunkards here, and everyone’s so talkative! ”

“Haha, of course! Free burger for you is a proof of this! And nice to meet you too, Emilia! Hey, so… Which one you prefer?” Valerie looked at a board with a lot of different type of burgers. Then she said: “I will take this one with chicken and cheese.”
“I’ll go with the classic Hamburger.” As both of them got their food, Emilia walked to the table at the end of the room. “That’s my favorite place. You can observe everyone from here, and believe me, some people seem not to know how to eat properly.” She smiled, looking at the other. “So what brought you to this beautiful city?”
valerie-blomfield:
“Oh sure! I can’t believe how much nice people are here! Just lead the way, I will pay for our burgers! Oh, I’m Valerie Blomfield. I just arrived here.”
“Aw, thanks! Can’t say no to a free burger. I’m actually not from here, but seems like as soon as you set foot into this town, it magically turns you a nicer person. Worked on you, too.” She smiled at the other. “Emilia Greene, a pleasure to meet you, Valerie.”

“The way I see it, it’s five o’clock somewhere. Might be an overly used quote, but at least it gives people like us an excuse to drink whenever we want. Bottoms up”.
“I don’t know about you, but where I come from, five o’clock is still too early to drink.” Emilia chuckled, observing the man. “Besides, people like US? That sounds very contemptuously, ya know?”

“There’s no need to justify your drinking habits to me.” She replied amiably, already on her second glass of the night and in no position to be judgmental even if she wanted to be. “But if it makes you feel better, that sounds perfectly reasonable to me.”
“The world needs more people like you. Everyone’s so stiff these days. ” Emilia smiled at the woman, raising her glass. “Cheers. To all the alcoholics getting their money’s worth.”
valerie-blomfield:
“Excuse me… I’m looking for… For some place where I can eat something nice?”
“Well, you can consider yourself lucky. I’m heading to the best burger restaurant in town right now. Wanna join?”
“I’m totally NOT using the earthquake as an excuse to drink before eight p.m. But considering the fact that an aftershock could strike Arizona, I can’t think of any reason not to drink right now.
