Every time I see a post about ‘how could the adults in Naruto let this happen’ in regards mostly to orphans and child soldiers I want to take OP’s face gently and say ‘Because it is normal.’
The Naruto world does not share our morals.
It likely doesn’t share our mental capacities, either. Research shows that things like trauma ultimately alter our brains and the brains of our descendants. The people of the Naruto world literally do not feel like we do.
We’re led to believe that the world has been constantly at war- Konoha itself is proof of that, being built by mercenary clans. Each and every member of the Konoha Eleven is being trained as a lethal killer. They’re twelve. That’s normal.
Leaving an orphan to grow up mostly in solitude IS NORMAL. Advancing a twelve year old to Jounin captain and sending them out to fight a war IS NORMAL. Only truly outlandish crimes which have nothing to do with outer conflict- like the Uchiha Incident or Zabuza’s murder of an entire graduating class in Kiri- are considered abnormal.
To the people of the Naruto universe there is not a single thing morally wrong with turning children into soldiers.
This is why Hashirama and Madara were such outliers. They were the first ones to look at the world and go ‘WHY is it this way? Isn’t this fucked?’
It is no surprise to me that they by and large failed in bringing about peace. They wouldn’t just be changing the clans of Konoha, they would have to change years of accumulated mental shifts based on societies designed for warfare.
Even Naruto shouldn’t have been able to manage as quickly as he did in The Mistake, which has a lot to do with worldbuilding that went right out the fucking window when someone decided to continue the series after the abysmal tommyknockers ending.
(am I the only one who remembers the ninvillages AREN’T the ruling government authorities of the five great nations…?)
Anyway my point stands.
“But why didn’t they-”
They wouldn’t.
It was normal.
My only goal is in the darkness
I haven’t watched Naruto, but did he die at the end?
Nope. He becomes the Hokage like he always wanted to be and becomes a father.
Then I will finish the job

I got these figures and I just wanted share some…interesting things about them
Now here’s Zabuza in all his glory but here’s something cool.
You can remove his sword and he immediately goes from “killer Swordsmen” to “I’m this close into loosing my shit with you.”
“Kisame, I’m this close into slapping your face.”
@awkwards-no-jutsu is this memeable?
I’m not sure I can add to such a glorious-already post, but what about this?
