Abuse happens to men, abuse happens to women, abuse happens to people who identify as anything else, abuse happens to elderly, young, different ethnicities, etc. That should be the end of your point; there should be no need to say 'abuse happens to X *too*,' or trivialise anyone's suffering to make your point. It is completely unnecessary to invalidate or put different groups of people against each other, especially when dealing with horrible things like this. No one is more or less of a victim because of who they are.
And yes it is important to spread awareness that terrible things happen to everyone and more does need to be done to reach and help groups of people who aren't getting the help they need but can't we just say 'bad things happen to everyone and they all deserve support,' without further dividing and separating already isolated people?
