so noisy. can’t you do that somewhere else?
fuck you anyway smh rude ass betch
who are you again
shadow step. hi hello sorry i can’t stay for long but i wanted to kinda more-less put it here before i get around to updating my rules later:
but basically i wouldn’t ever expect me to be consistent on this blog. i love ace, really truly, but he is my secondary blog and backburner muse that i come back to out of comfort & confidence in my portrayal. sometimes i’ll be here every day for a week and other times i’ll disappear for 3 weeks without a word and stick to my main before popping back like nothing’s wrong. so if you’re cool & chill with that, awesome, glad to have you here. & if you’re not, that’s also cool, but don’t worry about follow/unfollowing at your leisure because i’d rather you all have the dash you want.
- thank ye & have a good week !

laughter becomes louder, bending forward as tears can be seen in the corner of her eyes —– not of sadness, quite far from it. those were from amusement, of all things. she doesn’t want the poor boy to feel more embarrassed that he does ( she knows he feels this way, judging on how quick the air around them changed. ) but it’s remarkable ( and almost cute, to some extent. ) how he reacts to things that are normal to her. or at least, should be. but she moves back, one hand coming to wipe her tears away as gaze moves to the sky, keeping herself occupied so she won’t have to see the mortified look on his face.
“they aren’t lying, though. guys who keeps girls waiting are the worst…” a pause. “but i know you didn’t meant it like that. don’t worry.” hand falls to her side and she exhales, as means to steady her breath due to all the laughter —- it has been a while.
“you’re here now. that’s all that matters.”
A weight bubbles up in his chest at her laughter, sinking his heart as heat flooded his face, cheeks burning red from his own folly. He scoffs eventually, turning his buried visage away even farther because he knows, he knows any normal boy would’ve known that. (Ah, but when have you ever cared to be normal, fledgling boy? You have always been special, Mother said so.) It’s awful nonetheless, horrible to know the distance that would likely never change.
All part of being an elite, though. The ordeals of the ordinary need not apply to those of legend.
“Y-yeah, well,” Loosing a hand from his knees, his arm shifts to the side, fingers lifting the leather flap of his satchel to rummage through the inside, hastily pulling out a small box of chocolates with chocobos decorating the design. It’d been clearly opened, a few pieces of bird-shaped candy were definitely missing from the set, but he shoves it against her side with an unfocused push, possibly a little more forceful than he’d usually be. “J-just take it. I saw it out at McTighe on our way back and got it to apologize, but... I worried they’d melt, so...”
A sigh. “... Sorry.”

comparable to a snake or … is it a wolf ——- which is most similar? he has the HISSES of a snake, but the deep GROWLS of a canine. either way, he’s a vicious creature. one without care, one without mercy. blood ‘pon his hands is a SIGHT to see. oh, how he reveals in his line of WORK.
however, ACTUALLY doing his job is postponed until his GUIDE gets him to his destination.❝ alriiight, you make a good point. ❞ not that he couldn’t HANDLE a few snipers, but he digresses : ❝ so … how long’s it gonna take us to get outta here —– ‘cause i’m on the clock here. ❞
Who is he but a martyr of only sixteen, crimson wings upon his back fluttering in the wind as he hopped from rock to rock with airy steps, ever unaware of what fate may hold in store that day. No, he removes his hand from the uplifted earth, turning ‘round ever seemingly upbeat (odd, possibly, when one’s mission was to infiltrate and slaughter), a porcelain smile affixed to his face in practiced reassurance.
“I’ve been through this area before with my classmates when we were... uh...” Fugitives, would be the right word to say, but he digresses, swallowing the word in his throat with a heavy, grim pause. “... It’s not important. But we managed to reach around the target zone in a half hour, so if we avoid the monsters here, we’ll reach the coordinates once we clear the cliff.”

That was just like Ace to passionately speak about all chocobos. It always made her happy when her friends spoke about things that they were really in to.
And then he spoke of the war chocobos… Those poor birds just doing what they were told. Hopefully one day there would be no wars and they could run free instead of running into battlefields.
“B-but just think of the ones running free! Or living happily on a farm! Maybe one day the war chocobos can be with them instead, right? Just try to think of that! When we finish our job, they’ll be, well, as free as birds!”
“If you’re going to put it that way,” A brow raises, seemingly taken aback by the sudden shift in the conversation, “then I guess we just have to work a lot harder, huh?”
Rubbing at the back of his head, his head falls to a single side, conceding that she definitely had a point. The reason the war chocobos were even raised in the first place was because of all the tensions between the countries and the crystals——if the war was over, many of the chocobos wrangled in from the wild would be returned back to their homes, or... so they could hope. “We’ll be fighting not just for our fellow cadets and everybody in Rubrum, but for all the chocobos, too. That’s... quite a bit riding upon our success in battle, but we can handle it.”

Thinking about it, she would be an awful bird. She was fairly certain she would just sit there and bask in the sun and sit in a tree all day.
Not too exciting, really.
And yet, when posed the idea of being a chocobo… She was sure Ace would be a wonderful chocobo.
“Chocobos? I think you’d be a better chocobo than me! But if I were to be one, I’d hope to have pink plumage! –What colour would you be? I could see you being red.”
“Is there really any way to be a better chocobo?” His smile ebbing from humored to nervous as he asks, he rolls his shoulders back. To him, chocobos were the best they could be just by being chocobos, not because they held any specific traits or behaviors. And it was the same for people, as well.
“But I don’t know. I think I’d be happy just being an ordinary, yellow chocobo, really.” Yet, his tone shifts suddenly, visage turning away as a quiet, almost saddened quality overcomes him. “I just wouldn’t want to be a war chocobo if I could help it.”

x. NAIKO
❇{ℒ𝓲𝓰𝓱𝓽}The Xeala girl was just walking along the path while seeing the cadets pass by. It reminded of the guilds back home; how they had a uniform going on and learning something everyday. Though these folks seemed to be learning something new everyday. What Naiko got out of it, seemed to be ways of war, as well as history of the realm. Not to keen of the subject of war, but history was something else. Nice to learn something about how such a place came to be. This was her business to be a part of…let alone be allowed to; seemed to be a strict place.
Letting out a sigh and continued the walk after the short pause. Nikki kwehed happily at Naiko and she smiled in return. The letting one rested on the shoulder of the other and she reached out to pet him with the index finger. Today was an easy day; no troubles seemed to pass by or any dangers of the matter. Soon enough the peaceful thoughts came to a halt when someone bumped into her. Looking down in front and saw a baby chocobo fluttering about happy, right behind was a boy. “No harm done. Are you alright though?” the Xeala girl asked while reaching out.
Nikki fluttered down and began interacting with the other baby chocobo. Letting out a chuckle, now seeing what the case was here. Seems like this boy was chasing after the little one. The two looked to be having a good time.
Backing away a few steps, awkward steps careful to mind where his feet landed amid his earlier ignorance, the cadet raises his head, a hand habitually running through the strands knocked out of place from the impact. He doesn’t straighten immediately, remaining “bowed” for a second longer as he peers up at the other, certainly unable to identify her means of dress and appearance as anything he’d seen before. When he does stand tall, however, his attention escapes her once again at the sound of chirps and wings fluttering, his gaze immediately circling around his own feet and then her own until he caught the sight of yellow plumage bouncing about, and the weight of worry atop his chest instantly dissipates into a sigh.
“Thank goodness he didn’t get too far away.” Commenting more to himself, he finally addresses the stranger once again in almost jovial address. “But, yes, I’m quite alright. I’m really sorry, though. This little guy,” his hand gestures to the fledgling still enjoying his new found company rather loudly at their feet, “gets himself into trouble a lot by running off the ranch.”
Almost knowingly, a seemingly angry kweh was promptly issued in the boy’s direction from the small bird, earning a wince in response. “Is this other chocobo chick yours, by the way? They don’t seem like the others.”

❝ i’m starting to think you have no idea where you’re going. ❞ PATIENCE wears thin, threads BARE. he stands a short amount of distance away, tapping the heel of his shoe against the dirt. obnoxious, impatient —— himself. / @ephemaria
“We lost the COMM signal hours ago.” His tone bites back, soldierly march continuing through the arid terrain, kicking aside the pebbles that fell from far larger boulders. A hand falls along the sheer rock wall, steadying himself as he glances o’er his shoulder. “And we’re in Lorica. Taking the direct route could put us in the sights of snipers perched on the cliffs.
It’s preferable if we’re lost rather than dead.”

Where would she go? He was certainly catching her off guard in all sorts of places today, the brunette not quite sure how to answer his inquiry.
“I…” She was truly lost for words. If the world was open to her, where would she go? She only ever thought about becoming an Agito so no others would suffer as she had as a child.
“–I would stay right here. With you all.”
She didn’t know either, huh? His hands settle neatly at his sides, seemingly put at-ease with her honesty, and with a relieved exhale, he laughs. It’s a strange sight, the sound meek as he leans forward, eyes closed——as soon as it starts, though, it stops, and he glances back at his classmate with a subtle smile.
“I guess we’d make a boring pair of birds, then, wouldn’t we? We’d be better off being chocobos.”
x. LINA
“oh? what was that? you actually want me to be mad at you?” uneasiness that is not her own floods her completely, though light and gentle expression remains. sometimes she had trouble believing that people thought about them being nothing but intimidating and unapproachable people —– they are as human as most people are. she laughs then, expression soon becoming sort of melancholic of all things, for she knows that it really can’t be helped. they are not the same, after all.
“see, ace. you have your duties.” a pause, hand falling back to her side as she shrugs. “i know you have a lot of things to do. it doesn’t really matter, though. i’m patient, you know?” a giggle. “but you do realise that your classmates are talking about a date, of all things, right?”
“A d-date?!” Oh, he’d done it now, hadn’t he? Flushed cheeks do nothing to hide his embarrassment, and bright blue eyes roll to the side as he wraps his arms around his knees, pulling them in tightly. He sits there, near matching his mantle in hue and after a few seconds, releases a hefty sigh.
Of course they were talking about a date... I should’ve realized...
Momentarily burying his visage, flustered and frustrated with himself, into his knees, the boy groans and loosens his hold, leaning back as far as his arms would allow. “I can’t believe I missed that they were gossiping again...” Sinking expression bubbles, almost into a pout. Red devil or not, he was an ordinary teenage boy in that moment. “I thought they were being really strict, but I was more focused on our mission briefs to ask questions. Besides, they’d probably have told me to ‘Get out’ if I’d said anything...”
x. LINA
“you did. but it’s alright.” she doesn’t mean to sound rude, of all things. she was merely worried, is all. hand reaches for him ( hesitates / stops midway as if afraid to step over his boundaries. ) slowly, feather-like touch doesn’t linger much —– patting someone’s head shouldn’t be that troublesome, right? a smile, soft and so rare that she really doesn’t bother putting on an upset expression. she’s happy that he’s here.
“welcome back.” a pause. “i missed you.”
She reaches and the boy stops, bowing ashen crown tensely to appease the small gesture——he’d rather she not, but he was the one at fault currently for leaving so suddenly. Her fingers ghost over his scalp, tossing a few silken strands out of place, but nothing so haphazard that he need to fix. But his chin raises as her hand retreats, a tense and concerned expression worn in clear surprise for the forgiveness she shows————
He expected more chastising, if he were honest.
“You’re not mad? I kinda... skipped a lot of our promises.” Fledgling boy sighs, pressing the pads of his fingers together in a nervous fit. “And the girls in my class always say that guys that keep girls waiting or never show up are the worst kind. I don’t know if that’s really true or not, but... I’m sorry. I’ll try my best not to let it happen again.”
