Y’know, having media discussions on Pillowfort is so nice because people there actually… talk to each other, and listen when other people say things, and don’t immediately jump to insults and shut-downs. Being on Pillowfort has been so good for me honestly, I highly recommend it for people who want a calm and friendly social media space and to get away from tumblr-style accusational mudslinging over any perceived slight at someone’s #fave.
October may be over, but ETAAB is still giving out invites! Just fill out the request form to get your free ticket in to Pillowfort.social, a small blogging platform combining elements from Tumblr and Dreamwidth.
Why look into Pillowfort? Because there you’ll find features built to solve the common problems that make other social media more chaotic and stressful than it needs to be. On Pillowfort, users have the power to lock the posts that are meant for mutuals’ eyes only, create user-moderated spaces instead of relying on spammable tag searches, and more. Plus -- if you can believe it -- the staff actually listen to user feedback, and the ban on harassment is actually enforced.

When Pillowfort was launched in 2017 we were not sure where the journey would take us. Pillowfort’s mission has been to become a more user-friendly place on the internet for creativity, communication, and content-sharing.  We are so happy to announce that as of October 2020 we now have over 100,000 registered users on Pillowfort. From the bottom of our hearts: Thank you. Pillowfort’s success wouldn’t be a reality if it wasn’t for all of your continued support. 2020 has been a trying time for the world and in the current climate where more social media platforms are becoming restrictive in content, we plan to continue providing an outlet for fans & creators to have the freedom of expression.
We’re able to do everything to date on our platform because of you. Pillowfort has been entirely user funded since the beginning with no assistance from large investors or venture capitalist funding. This allows us to not be beholden to outside interests.  Your support helped us proceed to the next phase of our open beta, hire more developers, and begin development on our site-wide UI re-design .
We are still on track for public release towards the end of 2020. We have more updates available in our September 2020 Community Update.
Ace Activism Opportunities: Activist Support
I’m kinda burnt out and stressed about the election and everything else and don’t feel like writing this one.
…
There, that thought you just had.  That one about “Yeah, I hear you” or “That sucks” or “Here’s 11 Weird Steps To Reduce Stress (You won’t believe #4!)” or whatever.  That’s exactly what this needs.
Ace activists have a high churn rate.  There’s burnout, there’s a constant deluge of hate and nonsense, there’s a sense that no one cares, there’s random people on Twitter who attack you for things they’ve flat out made up, there’s the never ending uphill climb, there’s the weight of the entire world on your shoulders because you’re the only one doing it all, there’s that other activist who you’re afraid to speak up about but you need to speak up about, there’s the going in circles forever and never getting anywhere…  And on and on and on.
That needs to be fixed.
There needs to be some support network to break the cycle of burnout.
There needs to be someplace behind the scenes for activists to talk about what’s bothering them instead of it having to be aired publicly in a Twitter war.
There needs to be encouragement that what you’re doing matters.
There needs to be a shield from the hate.
It needs to be more than just affirmational little infographics and the other stuff that people call “support”.  It needs to be something real.
Local communities provide immeasurable support to ace folks around the world. Those same communities lead the way in advancing our movement. Ace communities change lives! If you are in the US or Canada, check out our groups map to find yours today!
At the link, Pillowfort users were invited to answer these three questions: 1) What would you say to someone considering joining Pillowfort? 2) How have you primarily been using the site? 3) How is it different (or not) from what you're used to? Click through to see their answers.
Some of the highlights?
No algorithmically "recommended" posts
Slow-paced, low-pressure environment
Toggle to directly turn off reblogs
Option to make individual posts public or private
Comment sections = great for discussion
If any of that sounds worth checking out, now you can -- because we've stockpiled over 500 invites and are giving them out for free. Just fill out this form to request yours.
Ever get sick of living on edge here as an ace? It doesn’t have to be that way. Escape the anti-ace brigade on Tumblr and get to know the community on Pillowfort, a smaller blogging site where blocking and anti-harassment measures are strong, meaning you can get to experience the connection without the fear.
Don’t just take our word for it, though. Get a free invite and see for yourself through Escape the Anti-Ace Brigade, an unofficial giveaway put together by Pillowfort aces -- just fill out this form to get your invite.Â
Wouldn't it be nice if a community could remove spam and irrelevant posts from their own tag themselves?
It's not an option with the tag search on Tumblr, but with the communities feature on Pillowfort, it is actually possible for users to create and moderate their own group spaces.

Wouldn't it be nice if blocked users couldn't see your posts? That's how it works on Pillowfort. Get a free invite and check it out for yourself through the ETAAB giveaway.
Wouldn't it be nice if you could turn off reblogs? You can't on Tumblr, but you can on Pillowfort. Get a free invite and check it out for yourself through the ETAAB giveaway.
