09: POWER RANGERS WILD FORCE

The last series produced by Saban Entertainment (before Saban was bought up by Disney and production of Power Rangers was moved to New Zealand). It marked the 10th anniversary for Power Rangers and featured the epic team-up episode Forever Red, with all previous Red Rangers joining up in the most awesome roll call.

POWER RANGERS TIME FORCE

What can I not say in praise of Time Force?? First of all, time travel is awesome. The team was from the future, sent back in time to defeat an evil force before it could become too strong! Their Red Ranger was killed (later revealed to be alive, of course), and so they had to find his ancestor in the past to bond with the DNA morpher. Too bad the guy, Wes, turned out to be an arrogant man-child! But he stepped up to become a hero.

Jen, the Pink Ranger, was the leader (even though Red was leader in battle, as per tradition). She was the most experienced of the team, had a tragic backstory (The original Red Ranger was her BF) and would kickbox on random trees in the park when she was mad. One time when she disagreed with Wes, she straight up punched him in the face. Then she apologized later by baking him cookies because she is adorable. The Yellow Ranger, Katie, was a beast and super-strong!! So bad-ass!

I'm sorry I haven't kept up the pace with these, but I have four new teams coming and I've officially hit the halfway point! Thanks for sticking with me guys.

POWER RANGERS LIGHTSPEED RESCUE

Five Civilian Heroes step up to become the Lightspeed Rescue Rangers to protect their town, which was built on a demon burial ground. Featuring the Joel, the Green Ranger, who wears a stupid cowboy hat 3 sizes too big for him, and Ryan, the Titanium Ranger. Titanium was one of the only Rangers to be featured in the American adaptation but not the original sentai series.

I'm working on the Lightspeed Rescue team right now but I thought I'd post this instead today. I made this as a quick banner for the tumblr and as part of a tiny zine i am putting together of the project thus far. If all goes well it will be available at MoCCA Festival! Power Rangers Lost Galaxy! 

Lost Galaxy was about a Ranger team that protected a space colony and gained their powers from a mystical alternate dimension. It was a cool mix of scifi and fantasy. I thought the acting and writing were pretty corny and watered-down considering the subject matter, but it's still one of my favorites.  The opening sequence is a particular gem. 

I did not include the Magna Defender though, I'M SORRY ;_; i didn't draw him originally because he was harder to draw than the rest of them. I'm lazy. i'll draw him eventually...

Delphine and the Aquitar Rangers established and reinforced the canon that Ranger Teams exist on other planets too. Power Rangers are a universal force. I liked that idea.

Other bad ass female ranger leaders: Charlie, the SPD A-Squad Red Ranger, Jen, the Time Force Pink Ranger, and Taylor, the Wild Force Yellow Ranger.

which was your favorite season? mine was definetely RPM

I LOVE RPM seriously it was such an amazing show that season. It was so exciting and funny! I love them all, but I think I've watched Ninja Storm, SPD, Jungle Fury, and RPM the most.

Once you're done with this Herculean task, do you think you'd ever do Every Single Kamen Rider?

yes I would really lie to tackle other character groups after this one! Im not as much of a Kamen Rider fanatic but it would be cool to get more familiar with the characters. I also really want to draw all of the Power Rangers allies/mentors. PR had some great side characters. Bulk and Skull anyone?

Which Sentai have you seen? Are you currently watching Go-Busters?

I am still working through some other sentai series but I have been drooling over the Go-Busters suits. they are SWEET!!! My current tokusatsu obsession is Kamen Rider W. its hilarious.

The Turbo Rangers! Fourth team I've completed.

Their suits are SO COOL. they have all these lines that imply futuristic plating, and their helmets are cars! With headlights! GET IT? This was the series where the blue ranger was a 12-yr-old boy, who "transformed" into an older body when he morphed. 

We also met the Phantom Ranger--who did not have a backstory, identity, or morph sequence. He was a cool character though, even for the few episodes he was in.

Hahaha thanks for posting that video! I JUST realized that the Pink Zeo Ranger/Pink Oh Ranger was making a circle shape with her hands during her roll call pose! XD Love your stuff btw keep it up! Can't wait till you get to RPM!!!

And now, the Alien Rangers from Planet Aquitar

Although they didn't get their own full series, they did have a mini-series between MMPR and PRZ, and made a few cameo appearances in some later seasons too. I like them because A) ALIENS and B) their leader was a woman! although Red lead a lot of the attacks, the White Alien Ranger (Delphine) was the true head honcho. Basically, Planet Aquitar knows what it's doing.

i meant to post this one yesterday but my internet was super broke ;_;

I got their poses from a video of their roll call but I can't find it!! I'll post it later. 

EDIT: my original post had the blue and green rangers' visors switched, but it should be fixed now! thanks to the anon who pointed it out :)
