aniketos’ blood can be used for power enhancing; it tastes sweeter than human blood (+ the fact it actually is dark, inky black -- it’s hard to make one believe he’s human after he gets injured near them but it’s not as if he cares) and actually can be addictive to certain life forms. it is an useful tool to keep creatures susceptible to its spell under the control of those of his species, as this is a common trait for some.

one thing to keep in mind: aniketos is the most unreliable narrator. he will lie and twist the facts in his favor 70% of the time, and unless you’ve gone through the experiences he retells in his own words, it’d be hard to tell he’s lying. he’s such a fervent believer of his own version of facts, now and then, that it seeps through in his dramatic narrative as conviction. 

he likes being a sympathetic tragic hero/anti-hero, even if in fact he was nothing more than a power-driven murderer and it led him straight into the arms of death.
