Final Submission

Below is my Final submissions for each subject.

Apologies in advance and thank you for the awesome term!

As a self assessment I could really have spent more time on Experimental Studio Practices so I can even out my effort and apply more effort to my work in the different areas to create better final pieces. However, I do like what I have created and I enjoyed very much the inspiration which many artists have given to me in my artist researches which is something I really did not dig into because I was too lazy to do them in my Art GCSE’s. I could have done more than ‘just doing what I have to do’ and completed more than I have, for example the artist researches where I only aimed for the minimum. I also realised how unorganised Tumblr can be.

However, I think I did a good job in my final submissions, and I really enjoyed these experiments that I did off-lecture. I had a lot of fun looking at each artist and being inspired by them was something very different, I never felt so creative in a while and at the same time never felt so motivated to do better or to go to a certain direction in a very long time. Overall, I could do better, but I liked my outcomes.

Animation is my main course and so working with Blender just made it a whole lot easier and so much more fun. In fact, I can't wait to utilise what I learned on here into my animations!!

Here I am experimenting with the Polygonal Lasso Tool in order to get me those sharp cut outs, featuring a stock image in order to play around and create interesting and unique shapes for my postcards.

This is the process which normally took place, the only new feature which I had to use was the 'rasterize type' feature. This was made a whole lot easier by the amazing Ctrl + X and Ctrl + V quick inputs to speed up the whole thing.

The computers today is really amazing (and it's not all the time computers and laptops stays stable and does not crash whilst your work is unsaved and almost finished*)

In the creation of my postcards, I also utilised the scratch and spray paintbrushes in different colours and layers to grant them different effects.

In order to get my drips to look more realistic, I had to use the magic tools and cut out tools.

As a finishing touch, I created a 'difference' cut out on the bottom right to sort of grab your attention and create a unique aspect in the postcard and also a more ominous atmosphere

Photoshop, experimenting with the different settings. These are the main features which I used. The foliage paintbrushes and the different kinds of filters.

In my opinion, this really worked to create my desired effects!

Before working on Photoshop, I did some physical planning in my sketchbook in order to create templates which I would use in my final postcards, imagining how I would cut out and place my pieces of work whilst making space for the text.

Here I have my scanned images of my physical work in my sketchbook. I had cut-outs from Banksy which I then mixed with other things. I made this my own through the typography in front and of course editing in photoshop along with the sharp cut-outs which of course sort of created a new story within these already amazing paintings.

The theme I went for is something along the lines of minimalism mixed with graffiti to create what I call 'Minifiti'

Cool name right?

Anyway, I wanted to go with a dark tone, sort of create a a more impactful message with the theme of my work.

This was heavily inspired by Cornbread who stood out for something, which was his name; iconic. Also inspired by Lady Pink whose colours really splashed out and showed out which would really catch your attention and cause you to pay closer to detail.

I had essences of Banksy in my original work which I used in order to create what you would see as the cut-outs on the postcard.

Creating Wendy's Postcards, I used the editing software called Adobe Photoshop.

I had small knowledge of the application before I started, so I had to explore my options. Though I knew what the features did, I had to dive deeper and research what more I can do with it.

It's not a big brain thing but a right brain thing, I had think creatively, which I have not done before.

But here we are messing with the filters, toggling 'overlay' or 'luminosity' which is the one I went with to create a theme, the others were too bright or gave out too much colour which I did not want as I wanted a darker theme.

However, to create those cutouts, I used the polygonal lasso tool to cut out my physical work which I scanned using Camscanner (Refer to earlier post on Tumblr)

Following the export and finalisation of the object shaders, I then polished the work and looped the whole thing via Premiere Pro.

Easy, quick and simple.

My maths teacher in Year 4 once told me

'The laziest Mathematicians are the greatest because they'll always find the easiest way to the solution"

I'm no mathematician but I do like to find the solution to my hard struggling questions.

Experimental Animation

For my animation, I wanted to try and work with the Lattice Displacement feature which I used in my main animation as this only stretched it to random shapes which looked worst and more basic than interesting in my opinion.

Of course it worked in my animation principles class, however, I think here it does not work as well I expected sadly so I deleted it from existence.

Sorry lattice, you were a good son to me.
