Iām walking out of here in one piece / Donāt care what comes after / Drive the wedge / Torch the bridge / I donāt wanna die in here
The Mountain Goats - Heel Turn 2
it just occurred to me that i should add a pic of the finished print! as always, there are some things I want to work on (over-inking, under-inking, poor alignment, etc) but progress is progress and Iāll celebrate that. š¶

went to the MFA and studied Evening (The Fall of Day) by William Rimmer, 1869. Text is lifted from the museum label describing the work. Itās been a very long time since I did an exercise like this, so Iām pretty happy with the result. It was a great day to draw - I found this piece in a room that was mostly very quiet, just a few people wandering in here and there.
WINTER. Working on a little series of these for the seasons. I think going back and forth between these simpler pieces and the more complicated ones is a good way to satisfy my brain when Iām feeling impatient.
WORDS OF AFFIRMATION. i started this block ages ago - like ages ages ages ago - and i finally decided to do a test print on some sketchbook paper because I just couldnāt picture what it was going to look like. Iām not 100% happy with it but I do love the red. Needs a lil more work. Almost something tho.
WORDS OF AFFIRMATION. I touched up the carving a little and spent some time wrestling with these last night. I really do love how they turned out, especially from a distance. itās weird how you can make things that speak to what youāre going through before you even realize it.
SIBLING RIVALRY. You always got me on the hook / And you didnāt even notice / Stuck in the old neighborhood / Just running through the motions
