Virus Alert/How to fix it
So, thereâs a post circulating telling you it is a service that can figure out your Meyers-Briggs personality type based on your blog. Do not even click the link or reblog the post, it will give whatever is behind this post access to your account.
It can potentially give your tumblr account or computer a virus, Iâm not sure of specifics but it could be bad. It wonât have immediate effects, but the application now has access to your tumblr account and there will be negative complications in the future.
If youâve reblogged the post or clicked the link you can fix it.Â
Deleting the post isnât enough.Â
1. Change your password. This can never hurt.
2. Go into your account settings (https://www.tumblr.com/settings/account)
3. You will see this
(for mobile users, the picture shows a subheading called âsecurityâ and in small print under the âtwo factor authenticationâ setting, there is a link that says âlearn moreâ)
Click the small underlined words that say âlearn moreâ
4. Under âbasicsâ in your account security page, you will see the following bullet point:
(for mobile users the picture is a screenshot of a bullet point with the words âA malicious application has been given access to your account. Go ahead and revoke that access.â
Click the link (the underlined words that say ârevoke that accessâ)
5. You will be taken to a page called âappsâ showing things that are connected to your tumblr account.Â
Scroll down to the subheading titled âother appsâ.
Under there there should be an application called âPersonality Testâ. This is the potential virus causing application. Click the gray x to remove it from having access to your account.Â
