Cleared the conscience or something like that. “Cacao’s isn’t too far we could grab some ice cream. I’ll make you pay for extra toppings”

━━━━━ & “cacao’s, okay. cacao’s is a good idea.” willow admits, nodding before she pushes herself off of the railing and beginning to walk towards the building. it’d been a while since she’d been there and though she was still worried about the potential blow up that might happen with how she’d left, it was hard to focus on that with the promise of ice cream. “um. do you go to cacao’s often? it’s been a while since i went so i’m not sure what flavors they have now.”

Ivy sighed softly. “It’s not stupid,” she said after a moment. “But the only thing that will make them proud of us is if we restore the court. Believe me, Will, I spent years trying to get their approval in other ways but it just comes back to that. They won’t accept anything else.”

━━━━━ & willow visibly deflates, stepping back against the railing behind her, allowing her eyes to fall to the pavement. her gut wrenches and of course she knows ivy is right, but she doesn’t know how to accept that. “how am i supposed to be okay with that?” she asks softly, reaching up to wipe at her eyes with the back of her fist. “i don’t know how to be strong like you. i feel like... like i’m stuck without their approval.”

James laughed. “Woah, no. No. You’re gorgeous and if you’re up for it absolutely but that’s not what I was saying. It’s the name of a cocktail.” He grinned at her. “Clearly you need educating when it comes to cocktails and I am more than happy to teach you.”

━━━━━ & willow’s cheeks burn and she considers pretending it was a joke but she figures that she’s embarrassed herself quite enough already. “oh. i’ve never heard of that one.” she says, as if there are many she’s heard of already. “if it’s a cocktail then, um, of course that’s fine. is that the one that you like too?”

“Oh but I already have. Though I could use a duet partner” Korra winked at Judah, “If you’re up for the challenge?” she smiled before looking around, the bar wasn’t too busy that evening, at least for now so she thought she could still convice Judah to participate. “And about the people, if they’re such a bother I can always glamour them out so you think you’re alone” Korra nodded, a solution for everything.

━━━━━ & “i’m not shy,” judah insists like the idea is completely foreign. “just.. ah, fuck it. fine, i’ll sing with you.” she concedes. “but one song, one. so you’d better make sure it counts.” she couldn’t avoid a challenge, after all.

“I don’t think the customers will mind if you don’t look directly at them the whole time” Most of them were probably fine with a smile and a pleasant attitude. Something he’d had to discuss with another employee more than once.

━━━━━ & “got it!! okay, okay. so i can work instead on being personable and making them feel welcomed. i’ll focus more on that instead!” sunny says, determined -- she wasn’t ever happy unless she was working on something. it felt like a waste to be sitting idle, and she knew she wasn’t perfect, so why not focus on improving herself?

“I think I’ve been once or twice.” Korra thought of the one flavor she usually went for, “But that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t want to get a special guided experience there. We should definitely go!” the faerie beamed.

━━━━━ & “once or twice isn’t nearly enough! and, well, i’ve never heard of a bad time to get ice cream.” sunny giggles, looping her arm through korra’s as she begins to walk. “alright, come on!! i’ll give you the special guided experience then and walk you through my favorite flavors. we have some really cool ones this week, actually -- like we always do! which is why going more often isn’t a bad idea. there’s always something new to try.”

“yeah that’d uh, that’d be great!” he hesitated a moment. “It’d definitely help having someone who’d keep me on task or just help me understand the work!” he said smiling. “And bird watching huh? Is that why you were in the park?”

━━━━━ & “well, i can definitely help with either understanding or keeping on task. history is more my expertise, but to be quite honest, there isn’t much i’m not well educated on.” maison responds matter-of-factly, casting a look around the park before returning her gaze to him. “that’s originally why i was here, but i haven’t been able to get the contact that i’d been hoping for.”

He’s stood at the counter for longer than most might have just watching Sunny struggle to remember the list of flavors- it’s rude to just pipe in, and she seems… busy. He knows what it’s like, he spends enough time every time the beer on tap at the Tombstone changes trying to remember what handle produces what specific very similar looking golden liquid. “Um. ‘scuse me, Darlin’.” He eventually tries, tapping tattooed fingers lightly against the glass cover over the ice cream. “I don’t mean t’ interrupt your practice, but ah, I was in here about three ‘er four days ago with my lil girl, and I think she mighta left her favorite stuffed animal behind in the booth we were sittin’ in. I was hopin’ maybe somebody had turned it in? It’s a real rough lookin’ pink fox.” Parkley had made it a point to throw a tantrum about Pinky, and given that his daughter was half banshee- well, Rory was just thankful that his healing factor included his inner ear.

“Again, I’m real sorry for interrupting, but her ma’s a bit of a taskmaster, and if I bring her home without Pinky, I think she might curse me for real and not like, the thing ya say when you’re in the middle a’ labor.”

━━━━━ & sunny’s taken from her focus and jumps some in response, eyes darting to the person whose voice had startled her -- he’s very kind and polite, and sunny quickly composes herself so that she can listen to his request. for a moment, the stuffed animal doesn’t ring any bells and then suddenly, she remembers. it had been her shift, actually -- or rather, the very start of her shift. she’s witnessed the little girl and her father leave, and later when cleaning noticed the little fox sitting in the booths. she’d carefully collected the toy, thinking back to her own cherished stuffed animal that she’d taken everywhere as a child, and carefully put it out of harm’s way.

“oh, pinky!! i’d wondered what that tough little fox’s name was. um, if you’ll excuse me for just a second, i’ll go get pinky for you, no problem.” and then she’s off, speed walking as quickly as her legs can carry her -- which is surprisingly fast for her stature -- to the back where she retrieves the little pink fox. she hurries back to the man, proudly presenting pinky with a wide grin. “here’s pinky!! um, i noticed that pinky’s little bow was coming undone so i went ahead and fixed that. can’t send pinky home to their best friend not looking their best, you know?”
