“ well then, that’s how it should work! you can’t be on my side and on his side, he was the one who probably made Addy break up with me! ” His voice was slightly raised but for his next words, it softened in defeat. “ and now, now he’s taking you away from me too... you left me once, you can do it again..”

                  “I never said that it was your fault Nicky, and I’m not defending him. But if you keep going on the way you are you’re no better than the person who threw the first punch.” When he turned his face away, she caught his chin with her hand and forced him around to face her, “hey. You know that I’m always on your side. That isn’t going to change.”

As his face was turned, he only looked at her for a brief second before his eyes bowed down. “ yeah? it doesn’t seem like it. you’re the only one i count on in this whole godforsaken place.” Nick pulled away from her hold and look down. “ and even after you knew how much i loathe that guy, you find a way to be on both sides.”

                  Trixie rolled her eyes, “don’t be mean Nikolas, it’s unbecoming of you, and quite frankly, not very attractive either. And I happen to think that you’re very handsome, so don’t spoil it.”

His teeth instantly gritted together as he turned away. “ of course, it’s always my fault. I get the blame and you just sit there and keep defending him. ”

                   “He isn’t my friend.” She said taking a seat down beside him, “not really anyway.” She turned to him and grinned, “ I at least hope that that punch knocked your ego down a few pegs.”

His brows raised before slender digits traced the edge of the book he held, “ you sure about that? ” Nick pursed his lips as his eyes followed hers until she was sat beside him. “ nope, that’s one of the things still intact. don’t know if you can say the same for him.”

                    Trixie turned at the sound of his voice, she knew who it was the moment she heard it and a smile pulled at the corner of her lips. “The moment I start avoiding you Nicky darlin’, will be the moment hell freezes over.” She abandoned her initial route and started toward Nick’s direction. “How are you sugar?”

Another chuckle left his lips as he shook his head, before focusing his gaze back to her. “Well... I haven’t seen you since that day and you got me thinking..” His shoulders lifted for a light shrug. “I’m alright... hate to admit it but your FRIEND can throw a punch.”

Sitting on the bench, Nick had his nose buried in a book until a familiar face passed by and he couldn’t help but call out to her, “Hey... goldy locks, haven’t seen you in awhile..” He chuckled, “Not AVOIDING me, are you?”

“Stop trying to guilt-trip me, Nick! Yes I did break things. But you know why I did it. How would you feel if people were talking around that I was “hanging out” with some other boys? And not one person Nick. Not one time. It was so constant that I was just sick of defending us! People were talking in the bathrooms about how Captain Nick was so good at keeping it low profile with other girls that her poor girlfriend didn’t even know what was happening the second she turns her back!” she wiped her tears. She wasn’t crying now that she was sad. She was angry. “So yeah, I should be the one to blame because I was the faithful one who happened to break up with you.” she let out a mirthless chuckle. “I agreed to stay friends - but clearly you don’t want the same. Not that if you really think I would send Alex after you.”

“I did nothing wrong, Addy! And no, I wasn’t okay with this stupid break up. You should know more than to listen to people gossip about us, goddamn it! I bet it was Alex.. wasn’t it? He got in your head and that’s why you broke us up. I was okay with being friends until your little show pony came and attacked me! You can’t blame me to think that you didn’t even mildly suggest this to him.”

             ”You tell me, because honestly, I’m still trying to figure out what kind of guy you are myself…you know, besides the obvious asshole type. But,” she added a little sheepishly, “now that you mention it, I’m not exactly a massive fan of the nurse’s office…”

“Everyone is a little bit of an asshole...” He smirked with his brows raised. “Really? I’ve been there more than I’ve been too class.... does someone need someone to come along but someone is to proud to admit that? Come on, I mean, you should get that tie off before you know.. you get some disease.”

“Yes! I would be yelling at you because you wouldn’t have done such a thing for me! It would be completely about you!” she snapped. “At least he did it because he couldn’t stand seeing me crying after you when you were just fine!” she said with a mirthless smirk. “What about you, Nick? Did you ever feel bad for the times you made me miserable? So yes, I should be bursting with satisfaction seeing you like that. But no. I don’t. ‘Cuz believe it or not, you asshole, I care. Alright?! I care but I don’t want to care! So go ahead. Go ahead and tell the world I’m blaming you for the shit you have done. Because I soon will be blaming you.” she finished with her eyes watery with the anger and emotion. 

“Yes! Because all of us should bow down to Queen Adelaide! I was fine? You really think I was fine? You need to remind yourself that you were the one who broke up with me so stop, okay! Then don’t care because you sure as hell don’t look the part, so don’t make yourself the innocent by stander in this situation, alright? I’m not the nicest guy but you knew that, nothing changed, you did. Based on assumptions you broke off this relationship and then conveniently blamed it on me!”

            ”That is disgusting,” she looked down at her hand and wrinkled her nose, “I better not get some weird disease from this thing– And don’t give me that ‘you don’t have a choice’ bullshit. You could have just left me if you wanted to, it wasn’t as if I was holding you here at gun point.”

“You asked for it.” He laughed lightly before shaking his head. “Yes... because I’m that kind of guy to leave you bleeding in the middle of the hallway. If you don’t want me to come, fine. But go the nurse’s office.”

He scoffed as Nick pleaded his case and when the teacher glanced over at him to counter-argue, Alex merely shrugged. What was the difference? He could defend himself all he wanted but it would be in fact pointless. The teacher seemed to have already decided to go along with Nick’s story as fact and well he wasn’t terribly incorrect. The blonde did start the fight but on what he thought was well deserved. The elder definitely wouldn’t give two shits about him trying to be a good friend. “Yes, please do listen to the grade A assh-student. I saw him and thought ‘if I pounded him into a pulp I could make my glorious record ten times better’ and since his face was already ugly it wouldn’t be much different.” 

              Trixie would always be there to fix Nick, that was a given. She had played Nurse for many before him and she wasn’t in the position to stop now. Just as she wasn’t in the position to refuse his request in asking her to join him at the teacher’s office. An objective third party of sorts, which seemed to be an idea that the teacher favored, for he didn’t kick her out…yet. She was silent while Nickolas pleaded his case (the part about the rapper was a little unnecessary on his part, that much she admitted) and watched as the teacher considered his side of the story. Which only made it easier to believe when the blonde haired boy answered his question. “Alexander, you are not helping your case.” She hissed at him. Even if he had severed all ties between them, she still found no pleasure in watching him get in any trouble. Catching her words, the teacher concurred, “listen to the girl son,” he advised, “she’s helping you more than you are helping yourself.” As a sort of reassurance that regardless of what she said, she still had Nick’s back, she silently reached beside her and twined her fingers in his. Her eyes were on Alexander, soft and pleading, begging for him to at least try make an effort. If not for his sake than for hers.

Nickolas simply scoffed with an immediate reaction of an eye roll at Alex’s words, what was he trying to do? Seems like he knew he was to blame, about time he realized. He remained silent and still until Trix decided to speak, to which he knitted his eyebrows and looked at her with a slight tilt to his head. What was she doing? The boy didn’t even know that two talked and now she was kind of supporting him? Call him selfish, but Nick liked his share of attention, and he preferred having all of it, especially when it was down to people like Trixie. But as their hands were locked with each other, he said nothing. “Come on people, cut the boy some slack, after all, he was the one who got ‘pounded to a pulp.’ Maybe at least now you’ll decide to get a life of your own to keep yourself busy.” And then he turned his attention to the teacher. “I know, I know. Detention. Extra work. Been there done that.” With that he proceeded to turn around and walk away but stopped as he realized that her hand was still holding onto his. “You coming?” He asked, looking at Trixie.

“I’m not looking for revenge. Or at least not that I’m aware of.” she said softly. His comment about Alex was making her annoyed but she just decided to let it go for the sake of their conversation. “I didn’t send anyone! Why don’t you understand? Now, you are making me the bad guy. Do you honestly think I like seeing your face bruised? Or his?” she deadpanned. “We’re past the point to choose a nice person and a bad guy. We both made mistakes. Just for once, don’t be stubborn and accept it.” she sighed.

“You know what, yeah I do think you like seeing my face like this. Bursting with satisfaction aren’t you. If I had been the one to start the fight because I didn’t like you’d be exploding on me right now so now I don’t accept anything. I’m tired of being blamed for every fucking thing!”

             ”Finally the first thing that came out of your mouth that actually made some sense,” she said with a feeble chuckle as she diverted her eyes away from her hand and onto his face. “You sure you want to use that?” She said in regards to his choice of bandage, “it hasn’t been used to tie any girl up in any of your weird kinky sex has it?”

He simply rolled his eyes at her comment, but yet found himself softly laughing. “As a matter of fact it has. You jealous it’s not you? Besides, you don’t leave me much of an option”

           ”Don’t be stupid, it’s probably just a scratch…” She looked back down at her hand trying to expect the damage being done. The said ‘scratches’ were starting to hurt, badly. And even the sight of the blood and glass specks wedged into her flesh, made her stomach churn. Why the hell was there so much blood? “I think I’m gonna throw up.” 

Sure as hell doesn’t look like one..” He simply said as his gaze followed hers down to the injury. “The squeamish kind, huh? Okay, firstly, you need to not look at it. Look at me and think of all the things you hate about me.” He chuckled slightly as he worked to gently take out the pieces, keeping her busy by talking continuously while taking his tie and quickly tying it around the wound.

“Nick…” she bit her lower lip. In a way, he was right and Adelaide knew it. And it was hurting to be blamed like this. “No! No, I never wished for either of you to be hurt!” she reach out and hold his arm as he turned away. “Maybe I did, I don’t know… I was hurt and I sure wanted to blame you and hurt you but Nick, I never wanted this to happen. I swear I didn’t!”

He stopped in his tracks as her hand was on his arm, turning around he locked gazes once again. “I don’t know what to say at this point, I honestly don’t. Just that next time you’re looking for revenge do it yourself and don’t send your minions. You wanted this to happen, you’re just trying to be the nice one here.”

           As if a shock rippled through her, Kenna flinched away from his hands. “Don’t,” she snapped, cradling her injured hand close to her chest. Realising the former may have come off a little hostile, she masked the sudden outburst by adding a little after, “don’t you have some other poor soul to torment or something?”

Nick immediately took his hands back as she pulled away but sighed, shaking his head a little. “Can we not do this right now? We really need that to be checked by someone because from the looks of it.. you might have some pieces stuck in deep.”

“I - I just…” Adelaide couldn’t find th words to describe how she felt about the whole thing. She felt guilty deep inside, but it was a feeling she wanted to ignore, she wished to ignore. “I didn’t just go to him crying, alright?” she snapped, though she didn’t intend to. She was just nervous. “I was drunk. You know how I get when I’m drunk. God knows what I told Alex…” she said, her voice getting softer. “Look - I’m sorry that he started the whole fighting thing, but I’m not mad at him for what he’s done either. He didn’t do it just for me. He did for himself. Consider it as his own punch for not liking you very much.” she shrugged.

“Oh yeah, real fucking convenient. I never liked him either but you didn’t see me going around and starting a fight. Why? Because of you. Having this conversation is nothing but a waste of my time because whatever I do or say, it won’t matter because to you I’m always gonna be that horrible person. So, no, I don’t think you’re sorry, you probably wish he’d have done it earlier.  Just... stay away from me Addy because I’m done.”
