Taking Care of Mature Skin
WebMD has put together a great list to help you take care of maturing skin; here are some of our favorite tips:
Stay away from tanning and sunbathing: Although the sun can provide a great source of vitamin D, it is important to stay away from its harmful UV rays when it is at its peak. Try to stay in the shade between 10am and 2pm when the sun’s rays are the strongest. This will help prevent the appearance of freckles, age-spots, and blotchy complexions.
Wear sunscreen religiously: Use products with SPF 30 or higher, like the Fenix Cosmetics Rehydrating Sunscreen SPF 30+, for UBV and UVA protection. This will keep your skin free of changes such as fine wrinkles and uneven skin tone.
Check your skin often for skin cancer: If you see changes in your skin that worry you, don’t hesitate to check with a doctor right away. Older, fair-skinned people are at a higher risk for skin cancer, so it is a good idea to get a check-up yearly.
Soothe dry skin: Use moisturizing soaps and lotions to hydrate skin. If you are suffering from extremely dry skin, try a humidifier or consult and expert.
Eat right and hydrate: Good nutrition helps the body repair skin. Drink lots of water to help hydrate your skin, and practice good eating habits to keep your it looking healthy.
Try anti-aging products: Over the counter creams and lotions can help rejuvenate your skin if you’re starting to notice signs of aging. Prescription treatments and retinoid creams are also an option if you find over-the-counter creams are not helping your skin.
