It was a small class, no more than fifteen students filling the space with their childlike enthusiasm. Most of them young, but some certainly much older than the rest. But they all shared a glint of curiosity in their eyes when she entered the room. The elderly man she assumed to be their professor approached her with a warm smile, taking her hands into his to greet her. They exchanged a few brief words before she dodged behind a dressing screen to prepare, not paying attention to one particular student quite yet – she was unusually nervous.  Meanwhile, the professor shuffled back to the front of the class to gather their attentions once more. “Alright class. Let’s get settled, shall we? We have a special guest today. ” As he was explaining, she had come as a volunteer after he reached out to models in the local area at the moment. A personal trainer and a mixed martial arts trainer, she occasionally modeled for various fitness magazines and participated in several small films as a stunt double.  “ When you are doing this exercise, I want you to try and remove yourself from your ego,” By then, she had stripped down completely and stepped out with her hair hanging loosely over one shoulder. It wasn’t her first time modeling in the nude. But something about modeling for an art class was a daunting thought. She could easily hide her imperfections when it came to modeling for photographs. But something about being…immortalized on paper was … well she was losing the words for it as she made her way to the center of the class. “Really bring her to life. And that does not have to mean you sketch her as realistic as possible. Sketch her in a way that brings her strength onto your page. Yes? ” Her training reflected in her muscles, and several scars as well. Her body was built for fighting, for pushing limits and breaking boundaries – and maybe some bones if they tested her. She noticed some eyes focused on the ones that were much older and more prominent, which she was more than happy to show, for her scars were her victories etched into her skin.   “ Truly see her. Truly feel her presence – her energy – in this room. I should feel that same energy in your sketch. ” 

     (★) ─  It had been a long time since Steve felt awkward around a nude model, sure he’d seen men and woman alike strip down to nothing for a class to sketch, but something about the brunette today made Steve’s palms sweaty. Clearing his throat the blond pushed the feeling aside to focus on the blank paper in front of him. The teacher droned on about their model’s energy, but his attention was focused on his pencil now, of trying to outline the shape of the woman’s face.       The exercise was to practice the human form, he knew, but he’d always preferred the human expression, the way a person’s life reflected out of their eyes. Steve didn’t take too long, it was just a simple sketch to outline her features and try to capture that spark of danger lingering behind her eyes. The portrait lacked any detail and was hardly his best work, but it gave him a stronger sense of her when he tucked the page behind a fresh one and started outlining the soft curves of her body.       As it was typical for him Steve lost himself in sketching, nearly jumping out of his skin when a hand descended upon his shoulder causing him to jump out of his skin. “Sorry.” He offered his professor a tentative grin as he set his pencil down. “I did it again didn’t I?”       “The rest of class has already packed up, and our model is already redressing. Really, Steven, how do you keep sketching after your subject has moved?” Despite being exasperated the man picked up the sketch to look it over, nodding every so often. He gave a few criticisms but overall seemed pleased with the result despite how unfinished Steve kept insisting it was. Setting the sketch down with the roughly done portrait he only raised an eyebrow at, he left Steve alone to finish packing up his things.       Only after he finished packing up his pencils and adjusted the pair of glasses onto his face did Steve turn his attention back to the papers scattered on his desk. “Oh.” He mumbled seeing their now fully clothed model. “Uh… thank you for modeling for us.” The blond offered a shy smile, eyes own cast out of habit. “That can’t be an easy thing.” He spoke more in a mumble than anything else; he certainly could never stand naked in front of one person let alone a classroom full!

Just because we’re not writhing on the floor doesn’t mean we’re not hurting. We’ve just gotten really good at hiding it and functioning with it, otherwise we’d literally starve in our beds.

The last time I reblogging this, it was before my body started to betray me. Before the fibromyalgia.

How fast things change.

I have RSD, Reflex sympathetic dystrophy. Basically, whenever anything touches or brushes against the skin of my limbs it hurts. It feels like your limbs are asleep all the time and it never ever goes away. It took me months to even be able to walk after I got it (I had foot surgery and got it from that). 

Now, a decade later, I am still in constant pain, but I just no longer complain about it. There’s no cure, nerve damage is insanely tough to treat with pain meds, and nothing ever makes it stop hurting. 

There’s one thing, in my opinion, that would make this better, because it’s something I experience on a regular basis. I’ll occasionally grimace or take slightly longer to do something because it hurts, and people start complaining about me using my non-stop pain as an excuse. So there’s always some asshole who thinks that since you’re not screaming in pain, you’re fine. 

Well, I was screaming in pain when I first got it, but eventually, your throat gets raw and you remember that you have to make money to live and eat. So you stop screaming and start to build up an insane pain tolerance, because you literally have no other choice.

Its so hard to accept that people just generally stop realizing you still hurt if you dont say something or complain constantly. Just because i CAN do something doesnt mean i dont hate how i feel. Just because i could do something yesterday doesnt mean i will be able to today. Chronic pain is awful. I am 21 with chronic back and leg pain from spinal fractures. Its impossible and exhausting to explain, its easier to just pretend.

Every time I get a pain flare and need to wear a brace or have a noticeable limp, people will ask me what happened, and I always say “nothing,” because it’s true. Nothing happened. Just my pain is worse than usual in a way that makes my invisible illnesses visible. The pain is ALWAYS there. Has been for 16 years. I have never been pain free an entire time in the whole of my adult life. I have no concept of what it’s like to be pain free.

But random strangers still want me to explain why I deserve a parking placard or justify why I need disability accommodations at school, or, if they do believe I’m in pain, demand to know what my diet is like because obviously this is all my fault.

It gets REAL old.

I had an old ex-friend who constantly get angry at me when i would say i was ‘fine’ when she asked me how i was feeling And finally i told her, if told you every time i was in pain or tired, i would never tell you anything else.

  thankfully the meeting was over for the week and he was about to head back to the tower, when he was stumbled into. a petite blond, who he caught with the one arm he had. “’s okay. are you alright?” Bucky offered the blond a smile and made sure he was steady on his feet. 

         ⊰ ✎  ⊱    Stevie nodded, feeling a bit like an idiot just staring at the brunet.  ❝ Oh-uh Yeah, I’m fine. ❞ He offered a smile up at the man. ❝ Are you? ...You know, okay? ❞ Yeah, Stevie, cause his question hadn’t been obvious to begin with. There was a loud laugh before a hand came down to pat his shoulder, the touch, albeit gentle, still rocketed his body forward with each slap.                  ❝ I see the new guy already found our favorite pass time! ❞ Dugan was smiling widely as he joined in on the ‘see how flustered Stevie can get.’ ❝ Gee’s Captain, I’ve never seen ya this red before! This might be a new record! ❞ The blond felt his lower lip push out in a slight pout, arms crossing across his slim chest as he muttered for the large man to shut up.  ❝ Sergeant Timothy Dugan, but the boys call me Dum Dum. It’s nice ta meet cha! ❞ Dum Dum offered his hand to the handsome brunet.

         ⊰ ✎  ⊱    It wasn’t unusual for Stevie Rogers to find himself leaning against the stark wall of the hallway outside Sam’s meeting room. He could just barely make out the muffle of Sam’s voice -- probably closing comments, based off the time on the clock hanging opposite the blond. The door opened and an older, gruff looking man Stevie recognized as the guy who always left right as Sam would say, ❝ I’ll see you guys next week. ❞ He offered a small nod, which the man ignored before he slipped inside the room and waited patiently for Sam to finish talking to a few from his group.                  The problem with being a wall flower is you tended to keep your eyes on the center of the room and not wall you were backing towards; so, Stevie didn’t notice until he felt himself stumble up against a solid form behind him.  ❝ Oh! ❞ The blond almost jumped as he spun around, blue eyes wide with surprise, ❝ I’m sorry! I wasn’t-- ❞ Stevie swallowed, holy cow....  ❝ Wasn’t looking... ❞ The guy was gorgeous! Leave it to him to make an idiot out of himself in front of someone like him.

i really, really want a plot where muse a is a naive, sweet, romantic, whimsical little thing with a whole lot of optimism and sunshine in their veins and muse b is the complete opposite; a total player who has someone new in their bed every weekend and hates responsibilities and just spends a lot of their time fucking around. somehow these two have been friends for a while, despite their differing personalities, and one day muse a ends up having to move out of their apartment due to a fire or an infestation or something and muse b is the one who offers to put them up for the time being. it’s all well and good except muse a has terrible nightmares constantly and one night muse b is sick and tired of it (and deep down a little concerned) so gets into bed with muse a until they stop crying and shaking and fall asleep in muse b’s arms instead. cue awkward muses sleeping in the same bed every night and it actually helping muse a a lot with the nightmares, and lots of cuddling and feelings ensue. muse b, being the player they are, are terrified of the idea of liking someone but muse a is pretty much already head over heels and ANGST !!

         ⊰ ✎  ⊱    It started as a light tickle to his nose, a light pressure that had the blond’s face wrinkling before he shifted in his sleep. The sensation moved to his eyelid, his cheekbone, his jaw, before finally drifting down to his lips; it was these soft caresses along his face that stirred the lithe man from his blissful slumber. Even half asleep, Stevie recognised the slightly chapped lips moving over his.                 ❝Bucky~.❞ Steve whined, though his own lips were pulled up into a lazy smile. ❝What time is it?❞ One blue eye cracked open and took note of the distinctive lack of light with a soft groan. ❝Sun ain’t even up yet, Buck.❞ He couldn’t help the grin still on his lips as he reached his thin arms up to wrap around the brunet’s neck, ensuring the man wouldn’t go too far.

   “that’s why I’m gonna teach you doll.” Bucky offered him a sweet smile. a look very few every refused. “c’moooon it’s just you and me here Stevie — baby, please, just come dance with me.” he pouted and held his hand out to the blond.

         ⊰ ✎  ⊱    Steve groaned internally, head leaning back as his face scrunched up. Bucky was making the face; Steve wasn’t aware of anyone who could say no to the face, except Mrs. Barnes, but she could always see through her son’s suave stunts. ❝Alright then.❞ The short blond sighed in agreement, sliding forward stiffly -- more like a piece of wood than a human being. Why this made him nervous, Steve didn’t know... but... dancing, with Bucky--Steve was sure he was going to fall on his face, and make a fool of himself. That’s how these things always ended for him.

Purrfect Neighbors

         ⊰ ✎  ⊱    Steve had lived here for years, in a small apartment building in Brooklyn: it was perfect really, all the tenants were older, his neighbor’s quiet. In college he had dealt with loud roommates and other tenants that made the walls shake and the floor vibrate. Here though, everyone was kind and respectful of one another – Steve liked it, even if Sam always complained about the lack of people their age: ❝Steve it’s like you live in a nursing home!❞ Nursing homes hardly had stairs, especially four flights of them…. If he were in a nursing home, he’d have the joys of an elevator that actually worked!

              Still, the blond didn’t often have visitor’s during the day, which was why he painted then, got commissions done or finished up old sketches. So, during the day he tended to keep his door open, letting the fumes of the paint or the dust of charcoal a place to go – other than his lungs. He supposed that was how the cat got in.               One minute he was working on a sketch of city view from outside his window, and the next moment he looked up to find a cat perched there, enjoying the sun. Blue eyes blinked for a moment, because there weren’t any cat’s in the building and—No, there was a cat sitting on his windowsill.

                  ❝Hi there.❞ Stevie offered with a smile, setting the charcoal down so that he could try and approach the feline. ❝And who are you, hm?❞ The fur ball seemed more tan friendly, letting the blond stroke down it’s back with a soft mew of approval. Steve was careful to avoid putting his fingers on the soft fur, not wanting to get charcoal on the small animal; it was bad enough that he undoubtedly had smudge marks on his clothes and face.               After several long moments of loving on the animal, Steve’s fingers etched to sketch the animal, so disregarding the rather horrible architectural lines, he settled for his smaller sketchbook. Sitting cross legged on the floor, the blond hunched over and started trying to emulate the way wisps of fur would curl away from the cat’s body – such elegant lines.
