finally read schoolgirl by osamu dazai, beautiful book written in such a way you really felt it was an authentic girl’s thoughts. What I took the most from it was the questions of what true happiness is and its attainability, particularly the relation between passivity and happiness, as well as explorations of beauty, having an undefined sense of self, anxiety on your own neuroticism, fear of time passing, and depression never really leaving, even in times of happiness.

anyway I recommend- it’s short, took just over an hour to read (though I will be thinking of it for much longer) super glad I’m 16 when I’m reading this 🥹
