Being beach or pool ready is obviously a summer essential, but how do you look put together without looking like someone who tried way too hard?
Here's how to stay kempt, without overdoing it.
1. Cooler Chock-Full With Water
You can get this cooler at Target for $19.99. It's the perfect size, and the color was honestly the selling point for me. There's even a convenient place for your phone!
These can be purchased on Amazon or Groupon for about $10. Now, we all know that we should unplug while we're lounging by the pool, but lets be honest - it's probably not happening.
I picked up this mat at T.J. Maxx for around $14.99, but mats like these can be purchased nearly anywhere. Sure, you could just use a towel, but why not step it up?
4. Flip Flops That Can Be Ruined
I always make sure my beach/pool flops are somewhat water resistant, and come in a bright color so that I can find them in a hurry. I try to stay away from darker colors, as they tend to get hot in the sun.
For when it’s time to come in, but you still have a few pages left in the book.
Something lightweight--I normally use an old dress, or sheer shirt. While it might be tempting to use a big t-shirt, try to avoid the easy way out if you can.
A baseball or wide-brimmed beach hat is a must-have. I’m constantly buying new floppy hats to wear. It’s also an effective way to keep your skin protected from harmful UV rays.
Target is my go-to source for beach bags. They've got a great selection of bottomless bags at great prices.
In a perfect world, our hair would stay put. Unfortunately, this usually isn’t the case when your day is spent outside. A turban (which you can pick up at Ulta) can pull it all back, while maintaining a put-together style. If you’re not sold on the turban idea, a simple headband will work.
11. Shimmering Sun Tan Lotion
Yeah, no one will really notice this, but I love looking down and seeing just a little bit of luminescence.
I never leave the house without earrings. Just a little something will do.
These crochet beauties just add a little pop. Yes, maybe not the most practical, but since when is practicality the most important thing?
Your all-in-one favorite. This foundation, primer, and SPF combination provides great coverage while protecting your skin. I typically try to limit make-up on a beach or pool day, but if you’re handling a particularly tough blemish, BB Cream has a way of helping out.
