Elsa's Diary - The Day I Almost Killed Anna
Dear Diary,
Today, everything changed. I hurt Anna. My powers... they're too dangerous. I can't control them.
We were playing in the ballroom, making snow and ice like we always do. Anna was jumping from snow pile to snow pile, going faster and faster. I couldn't keep up. I slipped, and then... oh, it was terrible. My magic hit her head. She fell, so cold, so still.
Mama and Papa rushed us to the trolls. They saved Anna, but they had to change her memories. She won't remember my magic now. It's for the best, I suppose.
Papa says I have to stay in my room from now on. To protect Anna. To protect everyone. He gave me gloves to help conceal my powers. "Conceal it, don't feel it. Don't let it show." That's what I have to do now.
Anna knocked on my door earlier. She wanted to build a snowman. I wanted to say yes so badly, but I can't. I won't risk hurting her again. It broke my heart to hear her walk away, confused and sad.
I'm scared, Diary. What if I can never control this? Will I be locked away forever? I miss Anna already. I miss our games, our laughs. But this is how it has to be.
I have to be alone. It's the only way to keep everyone safe.

No, but read these images, everyone!
I think we are all wondering what we are supposed to call Elsa by the end of Frozen II. Okay, yes, she’s the fifth spirit, but what I mean is, since she has abdicated as the queen of Arendelle, is she meant to be called or addressed by any kind of TITLE by the people of Arendelle and others? She was born into royalty, so a royal title for her still sounds appropriate. But reverting back to her old title of “Princess Elsa” sounds like a step down, considering that she has a much bigger life purpose than to rule Arendelle.
So again, do we call her anything?
Yes, we do! According to the junior novelization and her Disney Wiki (fandom) page, Elsa is the Snow Queen, and so she can STILL be called “Queen Elsa”! 😁😄
And before you ask, no, she is not a goddess, nor is she an ethereal spirit. The fact that she froze when she went into the most treacherous area of Ahtohallan proves unequivocally that Elsa is neither immortal nor invincible. And this is after she takes her place between the four diamonds representing the four spirits and her new dress is created, making her realize that she is the fifth spirit. Elsa may be the fifth spirit. She may have been born with magical powers, but she is still a mortal human being. She is a human who was born to human parents. She still has to eat, breathe, sleep, and gets sick (Frozen Fever) like any other normal human being. Elsa is not normal, and we can call her a goddess all we want because of her new look, but what she is not is an immortal deity. End of story.
Long live our beloved, beautiful fifth spirit and Snow Queen, Elsa! 😁😄❤️
This makes sense and it’s reassuring to know that even after the events of Frozen 2, Elsa is still human!
One of the reasons I’m not a fan of the ending of Frozen 2 is that it makes Elsa seem less human, and therefore less relatable. Additionally, I left the theater thinking, “so what is Elsa actually doing now?”. In Anna’s letter to Elsa, she writes “Keep looking after the forest”, but what does that even mean? I live near a forest, and it doesn’t need anyone to look after it.
So in the end I’m relieved to know that Elsa is still human, but I want her to have an actual purpose. And unfortunately, unless and until Frozen 3 is released, I don’t think she does.
I can't believe it's been over 5 years since I made this video. It was a lot of work getting the timing right, but was so much fun to make!
