"when you're 17, everybody thinks that they're so unique and this could never happen to them"
No, actually not every 17 year old is an idiot.
I feel like I've come to the conclusion that I like carmen and gray because I can see why they like each other like I can tell you the reasons why
gray was carmen's first physical friend who was there with her all the time, she was at an important time of her life and he was an important part of it, who she genuinely got really close to and connected with so much so, she wanted him and only him to come to her side.
Carmen is the first friend gray made and came to care for when he had no intention of it whatsoever, further exemplified by the brainwashing arc.
Point is, I can see why.
I will make this a tag istg
(Incredibly sorry for the horrendous picture)
Player really told carmen she should get a guide and she was like "you know my old friend, yeah, the one who tried to turn my lights out, that's the only one that counts, yeah, i want him" and honestly, very real of her.
Fireworks party mod for check in #2. I understand that as this check in is smack dab in the middle of the week some of you might be really busy.
Please send an ASAP to get an extension on the check in [you will have until saturday MAY 16]
Otherwise
Remember this is the last time to report that maybe you can’t make it at all so that a pinch hitter can be alerted to make an emergency gift. After this if you require an extension on the due date just let us know so your giftee isn’t worried, but a gift is still expected.
So: How’s it going? A couple of sentences will be fine to say what the progress is as well if you think you can make it in time for the due date
About halfway through, should be down soon, fingers crossed.
Gray saying that carmen doesn't need him "complicating her life" is truly bonkers considering at this point:-
He knows that she was raised by VILE for nearly twenty years, brunt and her were very close, and yet he's the only one she asked to be on her side. Despite only knowing him for a year.
Knows that carmen did not forget about him after, and was keeping tabs on him considering she somehow knew he was in jail. (He would've figured this much out doesn't take a genius)
Asked him to come with her again at the Himalayas despite him telling her it wasn't him.
Clearly cares about him more than anybody else at VILE even after being brainwashed.
And for what, because he thinks she might not like him anymore because of the lying, (ngl, fair) but come on she's clearly incredibly fond of you.
Gray Introducing carmen to other people
Gray: This is carmen.
Carmen coughs
Gray: This is my girlfriend, carmen.
Gray going on about how he's always been that guy only for his expression to soften when carmen brings up their date.🥺🫣🤭
Randomly remembering how I was surprised when the book mentioned tigress was american like I feel like that was obvious but for some reason it surprised me.
Every version of Carmen is incapable of calling gray anything but the nickname she gave him, like:-
Graham❌
Crackle ❌
Gray✅🥰
And that's adorable.
Was going through some of my old ff bookmarks, and got reintroduced to the amazing concept that is VILE faculty shipping red crackle.
What? Please share, I need to see this.

👆series set at VILE academy, the faculty play an important role here.

Carmen and gray are such a pretty couple actually, their kids would be so cute as kids and stunning as adults.
I wish I had people to talk to about my bazillion ideas, I have so many and i wanna share them but not to an audience (yet).
Sometime during the dark!era:
Gray: I've been meaning to ask, did you miss me? When I was brainwashed like antonio did? Maybe came to Sydney to see how I was doing?
Tigress: Nuh uh, nope.
Le chevre: No, I did go to Sydney for a caper once though, but didn't see you.
Gray: oh,yeah, what was it about?
Le chevre: Dr bellum wanted to make some rocket launch prematurely, it's been a while, I think the device she used might have fried the sound board though, so you probably had to fix that, sorry about that.
And that is how gray finds out that the reason he couldn't be carmen's guide was because of le chevre.
I really really really do love all of khaled hosseni's books, all 3 of them, but the summaries on the back are just god awful and do such a bad job of setting your expectations for what you're about to read.
The kite runner, doesn't really have this it's just that the book really needs trigger warnings, like you'd read the redemption part and be like "okay, he probably betrayed him or something" and he did, but it's like not at all what you were expecting.
A thousand splendid suns, you'd think it's a feminist novel about women's rights but it's not, it's a tragedy about the worst things happening to the mcs and them navigating it.
And the mountains echoed is the worst out of them cause you'd think it's about a separated brother and sister but it's an anthology series with 9 really long chapters, for which the story you're expecting only has 2 chapters dedicated to them, 3 if you count the fable at the start. And the other characters stories get progressively less connected to them as it goes on.
There's something to appreciate about all those separate stories but it's quite a surprise to find out that it's not what you were expecting.
It's just bad marketing, honestly, I wish book cover summaries were more accurate.
