If you are so inclined, the cricket match in "Life, the Universe and Everything" can be used to work out when Earth got destroyed by the vogons.

(Of course that's only if you take it as canon and if Adams was referencing a real cricket match and not making one up out of thin air.)

But we're explicitly told that it's a match at Lord's Cricket Ground at St. John's Wood, and that it's the last Test Match of the Australian series in the year "198-". Now, me being both crazy and diligent, I checked every single cricket match played in England between the years of 1980 and 1989 (thank you cricket archives), that was simultaneously a match between England and Australia AND at Lord's AND a last Test Match in a series. I found: a few years with England vs Australia with test matches but not at Lord's, England vs Australia at Lord's but not test matches, and England vs Australia test matches at Lord's that weren't the last in the series. I found one single match that worked with all the criteria, and that was the last test match in the Australian series in 1980, on the 28th of August. Knowing that the book was published in 1982, it referencing a real 1980 cricket match is perfectly plausible.

While at this match, Ford points out to Arthur that the Earth will be demolished by the vogons "in two days' time". That means Earth's destruction happened either on the 30th or 31st of August 1980, if you accept all aforementioned caveats.
