In middle school, Tachibana Makoto already developed the habit of grabbing Haru’s arm when he wants Haru to not leave yet. Usually this happens when Haru thinks things have nothing to do with him and tries to leave tense situations involving other people. Also we can notice that Makoto actually grips him quite strongly and it bothers Haruka to no end. (from High Speed 2).

It has been emphasized by Haruka from the very start that Makoto’s grip always had a lot of strength in it. (High Speed)

That’s why in highschool, we can see Makoto grabbing Haru’s arm without looking with practiced ease. Makoto always knows where Haru’s wrist and arm is at all times with respect to his own body.
