ALBUM: a touch of the beat gets you up on your feet gets you out and then into the sun by aly & aj ( link in source ) / part 1 / part 3 tba
notable lyric: “true love is lucky to find / just like striking gold / true love comes once in a life / don’t be the one to let go”
MUSE A and muse b have been together for a little while, but neither of them really believed in true love. it was never something either of them believed in, or talked about. heck, maybe they’re not even together, and they just have a crush on each other! but for some reason, those feelings of love are popping up for each other. and neither of them really know what to do. somehow they’ve realized these feelings and they’re telling themselves, don’t be foolish. it’s nothing to worry about. and then there’s a landslide of emotions happening. but, what they’re both beginning to realize is that one second can turn into a lifetime. so, one of them should say something to the other about how they’re feeling before it’s too late to do something about the feelings brewing between them.
notable lyric: “i tried to empathize / but you’re so dismissive / night after night / i express what i feared from the start”
MUSE A is a kind of person who is always on their toes, the person who is empathetic and tries to listen to others. muse b, their partner, is the opposite. kind of rough around the edges ( but who isn’t ) muse b is a bit dismissive and closed off, never wanting to talk about what’s bothering them–or even talks too much about themselves, but doesn’t listen to MUSE A when there’s a problem. in this constant give and give, and not enough of a take, MUSE A has to figure out how to get muse b to listen to them and work on their relationship without breaking things down and having too much of a problem. but is that possible? can they work things out, or will muse b just never listen?
notable lyric: “you know the devil’s never far behind / but he isn’t welcome here so don’t bother”
on then run from something, MUSE A found refuge with muse b. maybe muse b just knew that something was wrong, or maybe MUSE A opened up about their problems. but it’s always been a safe haven for both muses, to be together. they’re comfortable with each other. and they know that maybe it’s not permanent, but it’s for now. and their personal demons may be chasing after them, but those aren’t welcome in the space that they’ve created in this place for just the two of them. it’s angst, but comforting each other in the most vulnerable moments as well.
notable lyric: “all these memories, they don’t feel like mine / i just can’t stomach, being your ex-wife”
these two muses have been through the ringer. together for a long time, MUSE A and muse b are either married, or as close to married as they can be without actually signing the piece of paper to make it legal. lately, though, it feels like everything has been sinking into something they don’t know. MUSE A feels like a different person, a stranger they don’t recognize any longer. but they can’t find the words to talk about that with muse b, so they’ve been hiding this inside and just going with it. it hurts them to think about it, but the sinking feeling hasn’t gone away. they feel like the ship they’re on is just going down and they can’t get to be better. but maybe it’s all in their head–will MUSE A open up about their feelings to muse b, since they can’t exactly “stomach” the thought of ending their relationship? or will they continue to keep this a secret?
song: personal cathedrals
notable lyric: “they treat these lonely dance floors / like personal cathedrals / even diamonds here don’t shine”
MUSE A and muse b pretend to be everything that they’re not, going to high end parties and putting on fronts to pretend like they’re something else. maybe it’s something that they want, or something that someone wants for them, but either way, they always feel like they’re stuck in these spots. save for having each other. across the crowds MUSE A and muse b are always drawn to each other. despite the glitz and the glam, they can spot each other easily. and that’s what makes it all worth it. would they rather be somewhere else? absolutely. but sometimes they can’t sneak away from the events, so muse b and MUSE A will hold onto each other for dear life during these moments to make sure they’re never lost in those crowds–each others guide posts.
notable lyric: “when the waves come crashing down / we can be the ones to pull each other out”
MUSE A and muse b were together for some time, but eventually time ( or something else ) got between them. and they parted ways. now it’s been a long time since they’ve seen each other, but MUSE A can’t help but wonder if that promise they made to each other still stands–if anything ever happened, would they still be there for each other? as something’s happened, MUSE A wants to reach out to the one person they know would be there for them. so MUSE A finds themselves looking out for muse b. will muse b still be there, or has too much time past for them to still be that solid rock for MUSE A to crash into during a time of need?
