X-Men: Messiah Complex part 1 (by FloatingHandsStudios)
"Ah shucks mama, again?"
what did i just watch
The most accurate summary. THE MOST ACCURATE.
"I save you, X-Men, because that is my task in life..."
givenoapology:
-Magneto, X-Men #3 ‘Fallout’ (X-Men:Rubicon 3 of 3)
"I save you, X-Men, because that is my task in life...To safeguard my people--Homo Sapiens Superior--Mutantkind--from those who would do us harm. And those forces are legion. In that, I suspect nothing else, Charles, we are much alike. I have survived one holocaust, I could not tolerate another. Nor any who--by accident, by intent--act to bring it about. I bore no animus to you, old friend, or your students, until you chose to oppose me. Then, I had no choice but to count you among my enemies. Have no illusions on that score. Perhaps it's best it end this way, Charles. Best for my dream to end in flames and glory here far above Earth...for if we were ever to meet again...I would have shown you no mercy. I give you your dream, Charles. But I fear, in time, your heart will break, as you realize it has ever been a fool's hope. Farewell, my friend."
What is this?
This is a collection of the Uncanny X-Men written by Chris Claremont, which span 17 years, and 185 issues. This masterpost collects Uncanny X-Men Issue 94 thru Issue 279. It includes a wide variety of both famous and less-famous X-Men characters of all shapes and sizes. It also contains some of the best (in my opinion) X-Men stories, and the characters are rich and vibrant. Claremont created/co-created many characters that are extremely popular today, and he is considered on the industry’s most well-known authors, with quite a legacy.
Why should I read this?
Because it’s an incredibly written and richly populated story, with intricate plotwork and fleshed-out characters. Claremont considers his characters to be “real people" when he is writing them, and this comes through in his writing. If you’ve ever wanted to know more about the older X-Men stuff, this is a really good read.
The issues here contain stories such as “Days of Future Past" (Issues 141 and 142), which is the story on which the upcoming X-Men movie is based, and “The Dark Phoenix Saga" (Issues 101-108 and 129 to 138). Both of these are considering quintessential X-men stories, and are somewhat of a must-read for fans interested in the X-Men.
Since I am creating this masterpost during Marvelous Marvel Ladies Month, I feel obligated to also mention that many popular and amazing female characters made their debuts under Claremont’s time as a writer, including:
Kitty Pryde / Shadowcat - Issue 129
Emma Frost - Issue 129
Jubilation Lee / Jubilee - Issue 244
Rachel Summers - Issue 141
Madelyne Pryor - Issue 168
Rogue also makes her first actual X-Men appearance in Issue 158, though she was a villain in other comics prior to that.
Okay, I’m interested, now what?
Now you download the masterpost! You can find it right here. Happy reading!
Claremont pretty much DEFINED the X-Men and most of the X-Men adaptations (cartoons, movies, games, etc…) are based on his stuff.
CAN'T. NOT. REBLOG.
