I had this idea that after the end of Part 3, all the characters would get a second chance and return to life. Yes, even Henry, but in the form of a fat pink cat. Dave, driven by a desire to fix everything, takes on the responsibility of caring for Henry.

!headcanon! When the Infection receded and the Hollow Knight was relieved of his post, he set out to find the King, hoping for a brighter future. But the Wyrm was unable to accept change so readily and rejected the Vessel, sending him and all his brethren back to the Abyss. There, the Hollow Knight, filled with resentment and anger, embraced the darkness and, calling himself the King of Shadows, set out to take revenge on the Pale Light.
