I have to apologize. I have a very hard time seeing terms in any other way than "black and white". I think like, how can somebody be asexual, such an absolute and all the time term, some of the time? Maybe like how somebody can be bi, and therefore on homosexual and heterosexual at the same time?

Mental disorders are no excuse for shitty behavior. It’s an explanation, but by no means an excuse.
It also does not make you immune to criticism regarding said shitty behavior.

The term demisexual bothers me because not being sexually attracted to strangers/only being attracted to people you’ve formed an intense emotional relationship with doesn’t warrant a special label in my opinion like good job you’re just like any other non-asexual person - not everybody experiences sexual attraction to somebody they just met and I’d say that’s more uncommon but I don’t know.
Also somebody made the term up as a joke and that’s the fact.
Demisexual is under the Asexual label, it’s right there next to gray-asexual. It’s not like it gets it’s own codifier or place in the queer spectrum.
When I am not in a relationship, I feel like an asexual. I don’t find people sexually appealing nor do I really care about sex. I went 20 years of my life without wanting it….until I entered into relationships with people. The person I cared about was sexually attractive to me then, I wanted it. But only because there was this mutual level of respect and care. The person themselves was attractive to me, but the same doesn’t extend to other people of that gender or any other. It’s just not there, I don’t find myself wanting anything from people, even people I find physically and asthetically pleasing. It’s purely a case by case basis when it comes to sex for me.
Maybe it seems like an unneeded label, but for me nothing else made sense until I heard it. After being conditioned to think crushes and lusting after people you find beautiful is the normal thing, but finding Demisexual made me realize I don’t have to force myself to want people. I dunno, I’ve heard people voice this opinion before, maybe you’re right, but it honestly just makes me feel more comfortable. That’s all.
If I made up a term I’m sure people would fit that definition too, doesn’t mean it’s necessary or real. It just means you care more about other things. You don’t need to label it. I do because being asexual has such an incredibly strong impact on my life and relationships. It's something that doesn't change depending on the circumstances, ever.
Thank you for making me understand why people are calling themselves demisexual, I really appreciate it. I still stand by my opinion though.
