It's been a while! This is Susan B. Anthony, a suffragist, abolitionist, and a lecturer.

Talked a lot at @illustrationacademy this past week. Hopefully it would be useful to all the students. (at The Illustration Academy)
Late June, 2017. I'm looking at a note on my studio wall; a reminder of an intriguing confluence of events that occurred in late June ... 1876. A diverse jumble of events that had an impact on my curiosity and, in some obtuse ways, on my work. Most famously, Custer died for his sins on the Little Big Horn in Montana in June 1876, thanks to the Sioux and Northern Cheyennes. Across the Pond in France, one of my heroes, Edgar Degas, discovered the monotype printmaking process in late June 1876. That work of his had a profound influence on my own work 120 years later. And the great cellist, Pablo Casals, was born in Spain, June 1876. My fascination with him was sparked by the fact that his signature record album (yes, vinyl) was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London (yes, the Beatles) on the very same day in November, 1936, that Blues legend Robert Johnson recorded his own signature record album in a San Antonio hotel room. I am forever fascinated by these kind of connections! Stay curious.
