Yknow one thing I just realized for this versatile ship is that, another canon proof that they treat the other like nobody else does.

Like, most of the countries feared / are kind of scared of Ivan, and Alfred is one of very few nations (other than his sister Belarus) who isn’t afraid of Ivan. And he also often proactively approaches/interacts with Ivan casually.

And also, while most nations also are annoyed by Alfred’s obnoxious chatter, Ivan is one of few nations (if not the only one) who is shown in canon to praise that trait of Alfred, and even said it’s a positive thing.

You could interpret those as just passive aggressive sign or “fake” kindness but, it’s canon both of them often conceal their true emotion with cheerful face so, who knows when they’re actually lying or genuine.
