A Hero’s Tale

Jimin was born in a lab, that’s what Taehyung has always told him. That he and Namjoon were on a mission given to them by Yoongi and they just happened to come across him. The duo at the time were heroes, superheroes, on the path of defeating a mad scientist who had come too close to creating the perfect monster for Yoongi’s comfort and was sent to eliminate the threat at all cost. That threat was Jimin, though they never called him that, Jimin knew that he was what they were there for.

The boy doesn’t remember much of his creation, his first years of life were fuzzy but he could remember the sensation of frigid coldness that froze his core. No matter how hard he tries it’s something his mind could never conjure up, even if he didn’t know his beginning, he knows his middle. He remembers the rigorous training, the way his shoulder blades would ache from constant abuse, and the sound of a whip and a moment of blankness that overcame him with each crack. His home was a tiny cage, tall enough for him to stand and take five steps in any direction. He had a puddle of blankets and pillows he called home, a bucket that always cleaned itself out, and a man that was always outside watching, monitoring, sometimes even bringing food and drinks. When Taehyung and Namjoon came blasting through, Jimin had already lived for eighteen years and they were the first thing that happened that Jimin could call out of the ordinary.

Sometimes when Jimin closes his eyes and tries hard enough he can remember the exact moment of his saving. Remembers how the walls he called home seemed to shake. How a loud crash and a bright light created a hole he didn’t know was possible, and two figures walked through. Namjoon stood tall with colorful glasses covering his eyes, and Taehyung walked through naked as the day he was born. And Jimin could only tilt his head as he stared at the two strangers, the look of confusion mixed with shock was obvious on their face.
