I have always been a lover of novels and reading ever since childhood, stories that are witty, humorous but also have a certain charm in which they capture a special moment, yet also, capture you, as the reader into the insightful thoughts and characteristics of a certain character in which you may or may not relate to. Reading good books is my main hobby and one which I know many people share also. Reading can take you on a journey in your mind. When getting stuck into a good book, you create your own imagination of how the story may pan out, how you want the story to unfold inside your mind but the exciting part of it all is that no book is the same and each has its own unique form of showing you life.

When I first saw the book, Always the Bridesmaid, I was instantly intrigued. This is a story, a novel in which every single emotion is wrapped up in one. The boldness yet the charm in which envelopes this novel is one to be admired and the author, Lindsey Kelk, has really displayed true greatness in writing this story.

When I first started to read this story, the first person writing was an instant winner. The way Lindsey began a singular journey for one character, Maddie, and every detail of her life shared and written in diary form gives an insightful twist into how the minds of characters work. The first opening page stating 'My Bridesmaid Journal' and listing every characteristic of Maddie gave me an instant attraction the character; charming, witty, fun-loving but intelligent. I knew from then the journey Maddie and the reader would share would be truly enjoyable, fun and ever so emotional.

The main storyline to this novel is your average bridesmaid telling of her exciting and magical time in which she is preparing for her best friend's wedding. This, in all fairness, should have been a happy time for Maddie, a time to celebrate and cherish such a special and momentous honour. However, love, life, work and emotions all get in the way of what was meant to be a beautiful day in her life. She struggles with her Curella de Ville of a boss, she hates her job, she finds herself for promotion for a position her best friend is after, she is planning her best friend’s wedding, she falls in love twice and gets her heart broken (in the most hilarious but horrifying way), she falls out with her best friend's and feels as though her whole world is crumbling around her.... And she is 31. The moral of this story asks the question: does happiness come with success and if so, what type of success comes with happiness?

This story has to be one of the best I've ever read. It is outrageous, funny, exciting and romantic and shows a deep glimpse inside the world of one person who juggles more than imaginable! It has to be my favourite book by far! .. So the question falls down to, does reading books ever get boring? Can we shake the stigma off that reading books isn’t exciting? Reading can challenge your mind into thinking in new ways, it can broaden your perspective of real life stories, it can change the way you think and also enhance your growth personally and sometimes professionally. Reading can really change the world if you put your mind to it. #lovebooks
