Albelumi Week Day 1: First Date/Kiss, Family, “And I feel life for the very first time.”

Labor came out of nowhere. One moment they’re preparing for bed, the next Lumine is laying on a bed at the cathedral pushing out their child while gripping Albedo’s hand so hard it would return to its natural chalk state if she gripped it any harder. Albedo has never felt so afraid until that evening, he’s seen a whole manner of terrifying things but none of that compared to his nova’s screaming. Minutes felt like hours as he kissed away her tears and whispered praises and reassurances into her ears.

Suddenly he could hear crying from the opposite end of the bed and sudden commotion.

“That's one born!”

“Lumine, keep pushing, just one more and you’re done.”

Angry gibberish and foul language flies out of her mouth as she pushes. Albedo can feel his soul leave his body, twins?! Another cry wakes him from his stupor.

“Congratulations! It’s a girl and a boy!” Lumine panted as she looked toward the nun holding the boy and Barbara approached holding the girl. Albedo could only stare wide-eyed as a bundle of pink is gently placed into his arms. He nearly cried when a pair of golden eyes looked up at him curiously. She was so small and fragile in his arms, he felt as if one wrong move and the baby would turn to dust.

“Albedo, I want a turn with her. Barbara is waiting with our son.” Lumine giggled at his awe.

“O-of course.” He carefully handed her over to his wife, then with the same gentleness took the blue bundle from Barbara.

Albedo felt him squirm a little in his hold but still calm, the baby in Lumine’s arms however started to cry. Lumine looks to Albedo in a mild panic, unsure of what to do, and Albedo gestures to her to rock the baby. She stops crying and Lumine shifts her hold so she lays on her chest.

Albedo shifted his attention back to his son, the same golden eyes as his daughter peered up at him smiling. Albedo can’t help but smile back as he kisses his forehead and relaxes back into his chair. Albedo is ecstatic to see that they have their mother’s eyes, what he thinks is the most beautiful part of her. He wonders what their hair color will be, and who’s constitution they’ll take after. He hopes that they share their mother’s kindness and charm, and that they share his curiosity.

He heard the door click as the two nuns exited the room to give them some much needed alone time with their new family. Daylight pours into the room as the sun rises over the horizon, a gentle breeze can be heard. Holding his children for the very first time, he feels like this is a new beginning for them. A new journey with even more firsts.

“Albedo?”

“Hm?”

“What are you thinking about?”

“I’m thinking about how lucky I am to have you,” He bended over to give Lumine a peck on the cheek “and how grateful I am for these two. It's as if I feel life for the very first time holding them with you. Thank you.”

Lumine smiles, “Albedo…”

“I can’t wait to introduce them to Klee, she’ll be so excited to meet her new niece and nephew. I’m sure you’re excited for Aether to meet them as well.”

He cooed at the giggling newborn. To think that he was once the distant man who hid himself in Dragonspine and busied himself with experiments. He’s so thankful for Lumine, for showing him what it meant to be alive, for giving him the greatest gift and what he knows will be his greatest achievement.

My Brother is a Tree

Tree!Aether AU

When Lumine wakes up, she initially thinks it was a dream. That she didn’t just see her brother get turned into a sapling, but when she looks around and sees Aether missing, she knows it’s not a dream. Her brother really did get turned into a tree.

.....

When recounting her story to Paimon, Paimon’s initial reaction was to try to stifle a snort. She has never heard of someone being turned into a tree and frankly it was a funny concept. She only tried to stifle it because Lumine seemed genuinely distressed by the situation and she didn’t want to upset her savior.

Encountering a dragon wasn’t something Lumine expected but she wasn’t surprised considering her luck so far. She was kinda thankful none of the trees in the surrounding area was Aether, she didn’t want Aether to get hurt and the damage the dragon had caused certainly would have hurt him severely.

Amber was a sight for sore eyes. While she appreciates Paimon’s company, seeing someone who could help her was relieving. When Paimon told Amber they were looking for her brother, she didn’t go into details as to what her brother was at the moment. She had a feeling this would backfire later but she could deal with that later.

Lumine wanted to leave Mondstadt. While she was fine with helping people, defeating a dragon took time away from searching every tree in Teyvat. However, one positive came from this and it was the missing posters. Unfortunately, she was in for a struggle.

“Your brother turned... into a tree?” Jean narrows her eyes, there was no way the traveler was being serious.

“Yes, roughly 500 years ago I watched as turned into a sapling. By now he’s probably a rather large tree by now but I can’t be certain. If missing person posters aren’t possible then a more efficient way to search the trees would suffice.” Lumine wasn’t phased by her skepticism, hearing that someone was turned into a tree probably wasn’t a common thing to hear.

Behind her, Lisa was trying her best not to laugh while Kaeya wasn’t trying at all not to. Diluc, who joined them to see if her request was anything he could help with, was also trying he best to be sympathetic but the way he covered his mouth with his hand gave away his smile. Lumine had to take a deep breath as to not snap at them.

“Well, I can speak to our Chief Alchemist about that. In the meantime, you are welcome to stay at our dorms for as long as you need.” Jean patted her shoulder. “Mondstadt thanks you for your help, honorary knight.”

“You want me to make a device to find a tree?”

“Yes.”

“And this tree is your brother?”

“Yes.”

Albedo let out a breath. Surely this was a joke. Yes, he was curious about the honorary knight but this is ridiculous. There are millions, if not billions, of trees in Teyvat, he could search every one but even for him it’s an absurd request. Everything about this was absurd, from what caused it to what is being asked. He supposes he has no choice considering this an order from the acting grandmaster.

“Very well, I want to see if we can pinpoint your exact location using your body signature first. We need to figure out what that is though.”

Lumine nods throughout his jargon, she didn’t quite understand everything he was saying yet but hopefully this would bring her closer to finder her brother.

Its been a few grueling weeks of going back and forth between doing commissions and helping Albedo with the device right after. It left her very little time to relax and appreciate the wonders of Mondstadt but it was worth it when Albedo finally announced that he was finished.

“I can’t guarantee this will locate your brother, you’d still need to go to every corner of Teyvat as this device can only reach so far. I will have to accompany you as well to recalibrate the device to every nation’s elemental energy.” He hands her the device and points to a glowing blue dot on the screen. “This is you, perhaps later on I can add some upgrades but so far it will show you the topography of an area as well as the location of statues of the seven and waypoints.” Lumine fidgeted with the controls of the device, it was far more advanced than she expected it to be.

“Thank you for your help, Albedo.” She smiles at him.

“Nothing to thank me for, honorary knight. I’m just doing my job and learning about you was an interesting experience. I look forward to working with you more.”

Thus this officially began Lumine’s journey to find her missing brother, and the harem she makes along the way.

Regret and the Truth

Lumine falls for the distant alchemist, Albedo, but he doesn’t realize his feelings until it’s too late. He hurts her in a way he can’t undo and regret settles in his heart. Regret can be ignored for a while, but it always comes back.

When Lumine first saw the alchemist, her first thought was that he was really pretty. When they officially met, she found the rumors about his coldness to be unfounded. He was quite pleasant to work with and engaged in conversation avidly. Albedo wasn’t shy about asking questions about her nature as a traveler of worlds, and was curious about her biology. She initially chalked this up to being about his research, but as the questions became more and more personal, she couldn’t help but be curious about him in turn.

Over time, their talks started to resemble normal conversations people have to get to know each other. Questions like: what are your hobbies and what’s your hometown like. Lumine eventually forgot how insatiable his curiosity really is and came to consider him a close friend, later even developing feelings for him. She went to visit his camp on Dragonspine whenever she was free, and when she had to stop by the Knights of Favonius headquarters she always asked if he was there.

It didn’t take long for most of the knights to realize Lumine’s crush, Klee especially was excited as she wanted to see the honorary knight be happy with her big brother. Aside from Klee, the knights generally supported her. A few who were closer to Albedo however, were a bit hesitant and tried to steer her away from him. Sucrose and Timaus in particular tried to tell Lumine about his one-track mind, and how he has a hard time understanding normal emotions. However, Lumine’s feelings couldn’t be stopped and those who were reluctant do eventually stop trying to sway her.

There came a day when Lumine had finally worked up the courage to confess her feelings with the support of her friends (and maybe a little bit of alcohol). It was sunset and Albedo had been collecting research materials in Dragonspine, she was a bit tipsy and waiting for him in his lab.

“Hm? Lumine? What are you doing here?”

“Albedo I, I need to tell you something.”

“Yes?”

Lumine approaches him, she was too nervous to look him in the eyes. “I, I like you a lot!”

“Hmm, I see. Then I wonder…” He leans over and kisses her. Lumine doesn’t kiss back out of surprise but quickly leans into the kiss. Their hands roam each other's bodies as they kiss, feet taking them to the couch nearby. As Albedo lays her down on the sofa, he kisses her down her neck and leads the night in a more passionate direction.

Lumine wakes up naked next to Albedo. Her head stung a little but she remembers clearly what had transpired. She blushes hard, she felt there was a possibility of Albedo returning her affections but she didn’t expect the night to turn in that direction. It felt good though and she doesn’t regret it. He never properly said he liked her back however, which irked her a bit, but there was still time. She feels Albedo stir below her, one hand moving from her waist to rub the sleepiness out of his eyes.

“Mhmmm, good morning.” He sits up carefully so as to not push her off the couch.

“Good- good morning.”

“How are you feeling?”

“I feel great. A bit sore but I really enjoyed last night.”

“Nothing out of the ordinary? No changes anywhere?”

“No?” She hesitated, dread washing over her. “Last night, you never really told me how you felt.”

“About that, I don’t want you to misinterpret my actions. I was merely curious about your biology and how your kind reacts to romantic interest, nothing more. Perhaps if the results were different we could have continued this charade a bit longer, but they turned out to be the same as any average person in Teyvat.” He reaches over to grab his shirt from the floor. “Please excuse me, I have work to do and I must record the data from this experiment.”

Lumine shifted off him but remained silent, tears began to well up in her eyes as she felt her heart be torn to shreds by every word that came out of his mouth. To him she was nothing more than an experiment, a specimen in his research to find the truth to this world. She was had, used, and now was being discarded as if she was nothing. “So last night, my confession, it all meant nothing to you? All those times you called me beautiful, was it all a lie?”

“No, not entirely. You are attractive and your company is pleasant enough.” He puts on his clothing as he speaks, his tone disinterested and his face neutral. It was clear he didn’t care what happened next or how Lumine felt. “However, beyond my research I don’t feel the need to be anymore than acquaintances. It was simply convenient to use your attraction to get a better idea of how you work.”

“I see.” Her voice cracked and Albedo turned to look at her. Tears fell down her cheeks and a fake smile plastered on her face as she put on her clothing. “I’m- I’m glad that I was at least some use to you. I, uh, I need to go. Paimon must be wondering where I am. Goodbye.”

She rushes out the door leaving a surprised Albedo alone in the lab. While he did expect her to be upset, he didn’t expect her to still treat him with such kindness. He expected her to beat him screaming at him for playing with her emotions. He felt a tinge of regret before smothering it, there wasn’t time for regret in the pursuit of knowledge. It was a necessary step in getting the data he needed. Still, the hurt expression lingered in his mind as he planned out his new routine until the people of Mondtstadt forgot about this incident.

The next few weeks, Lumine was emotionally absent. It was hard not to notice how she robotically went through commissions, taking more of them as well as bounties. Paimon noticed that what little sleep she did get on a daily basis was cut from her schedule, and that she had started eating less. Whenever anyone asked what was wrong, she would always say that she was fine. They knew it had something to do with Albedo, but he was more elusive than usual. He was the last to come and first to leave during meetings, all of his experiments now took place in Dragonspine, and his time spent babysitting Klee was now spent studying the area around Star Snatched Cliff.

One night, they had finally had enough and managed to convince Diluc to let Lumine drink in hopes that some alcohol in her system would finally get her to tell them what was wrong. He agreed, and so Lisa, Jean, and Amber took Lumine out on a girls night out while Diluc manned the bar.

Lisa was the first to prod after Lumine was decently drunk. “So Lumine, What happened between you and Albedo? You haven’t asked about him in a long while. Did your confession not go well?”

“He- he doesn’t like me in that way. I’m nothing but a specimen in his research.” Lumine takes another long sip of her drink. “He said it himself, ‘beyond my research I don’t feel the need to become anything beyond acquaintances’.”

“I have a feeling that if he had simply rejected you, you wouldn’t be this upset.” Jean stated. “Something else happened between you two. You don’t have to tell us if you don’t want to, but as your friends we want to help you in any way we can.”

“Yeah! Like Jean said! We all hate seeing you all mopey and sad! If Albedo did anything to you I’ll make it my personal mission to set Barron Bunny on him!” Amber added, crossing her arms to exaggerate her point.

Lumine, touched by their words, and incredibly hammered at this point, began to cry. “Tha-thank you guys. I- after I confessed we spent the night together, it was consensual and I enjoyed it, but the morning after he admitted that he only slept with me as part of his research. I- I really thought he liked me back, but he used me! I feel like there’s something wrong with me! I feel so dumb for falling for him, Sucrose and Timaus even warned me! Am I just not good enough? I thought I had a chance, but I was so foolish for thinking I was good enough. Why would he fall for someone like me? I’m nothing but an outlander!”

The rest of her words become unintelligible babble and wails. Amber held her in a tight hug as she bawled her eyes out. Looks were shared between the three women and Diluc as a roaring rage began to burn in their eyes. How dare he use Lumine like this. How dare he play with her feelings, then cast her aside like a toy. Any sort of respect they had for the alchemist beyond his genius had dissipated in the wind.

It wasn’t long before everyone in Mondstadt knew what had happened. He found the increased difficulty in obtaining items in shops and finding people to assist him irritating but not unexpected. He didn’t care about the glares from adults, but the questions from Klee did sting.

“What did big brother do to big sis Lumine to hurt her feelings? Klee can go get Jean and see if she can help big brother make up with Lumine!”

“It’s ok Klee, I’m sure Jean and Lumine have better things to do.”

“But-”

“Klee, it's fine. How about you go play outside.”

“Ok…”

As Klee exited the lab, Sucrose came in. She had an anxious look and was fidgeting. “Master Albedo? Do you have a moment? I wish to speak to you about something.”

“Very well, what is it Sucrose?”

“Why- why did you do that to Lumine? There were other ways to get the data you wanted without hurting her. So why did you do it?”

“It was simply the most convenient way at the time, and the data I collected was easier to analyze since I didn’t have to rely on a third party. It was simply easier to get objective information.”

Sucrose clearly didn’t like that answer as her body tensed up and her face had a hurt expression. “I see. I’ll leave you be then. I won’t be available to assist you for a while. I hope your research was worth Lumine’s pain.”

She stormed off in a quiet rage and left Albedo alone in the lab. He seemed to be alone more, he attributed it to the lack of hands helping him but he knew deep down it was because Lumine wasn’t there anymore. For the second time, regret flared up in his heart before he smothers it again. If loneliness was a consequence of getting closer to the truth, then he shall make himself the loneliest man alive.

The month after the confrontation with Sucrose, he overhears that the traveler had returned from Liyue with someone. He pays this no mind until he sees her with the man himself. An ugly feeling rears its head as he sees her laughing and smiling with a green haired man. If Albedo hadn’t been so observant he would have thought the man to be annoyed by her presence, but he notices how soft his eyes look at her and how he stands in a position ready to protect her if anything were to suddenly happen. When the man pulls a fallen leaf out of her hair, the ugly feeling grips harder.

Before he can stop, he realizes that he’s walking towards them. It’s too late to turn around as they notice him. “Welcome back, Lumine. May I ask who this is?”

Lumine shifts uncomfortably in place, she turns to hide herself a little. “Oh, uh, hello. This is Xiao, Xiao this is Albedo.”

“Is he the one you’ve spoken about in the past?” Xiao’s expression has lost its softness as he looks at Albedo.

Lumine hesitates to answer the question, nervous of his reaction. “Yes… yes he is.” She grabs his arm when she sees him tense up. “Please don’t do anything, it’s in the past. I just want to forget it happened.”

“Hmph, fine.”

“I shall take my leave. Enjoy your stay in Mondstadt and a pleasure to meet you Xiao.”

“I cannot say likewise.” He growls.

As Albedo walks away, he sees in the reflection of a store window that Lumine had kissed Xiao on the cheek.  Flustered Xiao turns away, but not without holding her hand in return.

“That could have been me.” The thought stakes its claim in his mind. As much as he tries and tries, he can’t smother the feeling of regret in his heart. He loves Lumine, but he hurt her, and now he can never have her. When he turned into his lab, he sunk down onto his knees and truly let the feeling sink in. He was a genius but clearly he still had much to learn, he just wished he had realized sooner what his teacher truly meant when she told him to learn the truth to this world.

He closed his eyes and hoped that if he were to ever be reborn he wouldn’t make the same mistake again, then let the darkness consume him.

Xiaolumi Week Day 7: Free Day

Xiao zoned out of the conversation at his table. He was admiring the cute waitress who was helping a different table across the room. He didn’t notice when Venti asked him a question.

“Xiiaaaaaooooo! Earth to Xiao, are you there?”

Xiao snapped out of his trance. “Huh?”

“Phhffft! Zhongli look at out boy! He’s growing up!”

Zhongli smirked as he wrote something down in his small notebook. “Do not tease him too much Venti.”

Xiao ignored the two and his eyes immediately was drawn back to the waitress who was approaching the table.

Oh shi-

“Hi! Sorry for the wait! My name is Lumine! Are you all ready to order?”

“Yeah can we have some waters? My friend here is very thirsty!” Venti put his arm around Xiao and Xiao had to use all of his self control not to strangle him.

“Of course! Anything else?”

“That’ll be all for now.” Zhongli spoke, sparing Xiao of any further humiliation.

“Ok! I’ll be back in a bit!” She turned around and left to grab their waters. Xiao, forgetting all about Venti, zoned out again staring at Lumine.

Suddenly, Venti got very close to his ear and whispered: “Why are you so thirsty?”

Venti’s head was immediately slammed on the table. “I’m not.”

“Oh yes you are! Zhongli agrees with me right?”

Zhongli smiled at Xiao, looking like a proud father watching his son grow up. “As rare as it is for me to agree with Venti, you do seem rather attached to the waitress.” Xiao’s face was growing red.

“Please stop.”

“Please call over the waitress and get you her number? Ok~”

Venti wasn’t going to live very long after this.

“Excuse me!”

Lumine approached with their waters. “Yes?”

“Can my frie-mfjfhehhskdhhej” Xiao quickly covered Venti’s mouth with his hands. No, he would rather not be embarrassed to death in front of Lumine.

“Ignore him, please.” Lumine giggles, Xiao thinks her laugh was like bells. “We’re ready to order.” They ordered their food and the rest of the meal was uneventful as Lumine was suddenly busy with the Lunch rush.

When they got their check, none of them noticed Lumine slip a piece of paper into Xiao’s pocket. Xiao noticed it when he got home and proceeded to internally scream when he saw what was on it.

“Call me! XXX-XXX-XXXX -Lumine <3”

He’d have to thank Venti somehow.

Xiaolumi Week Day 6: Bodyguard AU, Jealousy

“You have to be more careful.”

Xiao gently cleaned wrapped the abrasion on the side of her leg. Xiao, a member of a popular idol group, was ambushed by a group of robbers. Lumine, his bodyguard, was there fortunately to protect him from injury. They managed to escape but not without scrapes and bruises covering Lumine’s arms and legs.

“It my job to protect you.” Lumine pouted “Besides, neither of us were seriously injured.”

Xiao grumbled something under his breath and put away the bandages. He then placed a gentle kiss onto the bruise on her knee. “I don’t like it when you’re hurt though. The only marks on your skin should be the ones I make.”

Lumine turned bright red. “Shhh! What if someone sees?”

“Hmph, let them see then.” He takes her arm and kisses the bruise on the side of it. He continues around her arms and legs, kissing every scratch and bruise he can see while Lumine tries her best to not to seem too bothered by his actions.

“Xiao...” She mumbles, “Are you done?” She’s so flustered that she can’t even look at him straight.

“Hmm...” Xiao takes a good look at her expression, cute. He gets up and traps her between his hands on the back of the chair. “Just one more.” He leans in and kisses her. Her lips were so soft against his and she tasted so sweet when she kisses back. He could never get enough. When they finally separated, they were breathless.

“I love you, Lumine.”

“I love you too.”

OK SO, two days ago I dragged this guy I knew into playing Genshin and LITERALLY THE NEXT DAY I get a message from him saying that he KILLED A LEVEL 30 FROSTARM HILICHURL WITH HIS LEVEL 8 AMBER. He had proof too! I am equally impressed, proud, and pissed off at this.

Xiaolumi Week Day 5: Blessings, First Date

Perhaps he should be more concerned than he is is right now.

They were on their first date. Lumine had asked him if he wanted to go to the fair and he, a boy with a massive crush on her, said yes. All was going well until they got on the Ferris Wheel. They were admiring the view from the very top when suddenly the power went out on the machine and they were stuck.

Lumine seemed to be annoyed, but Xiao couldn’t help but be distracted by how pretty she was even in the dark. It was hard to be too upset when he was stuck in a Ferris Wheel with the prettiest girl he’s ever seen.

“Do you think everything is alright down there?” Lumine looked away from the window and to Xiao with an anxious look. “It’s been 30 minutes and it still hasn’t moved.”

“I’m sure everything is fine.” Xiao took Lumine’s hand with both of his. It was very soft despite the callouses she had from her various hobbies. He gave her a kiss on the knuckle of her middle finger and Lumine blushed at the display.

“Xiao...” she tried to cover her blush with her free hand. Xiao thought it was cute.

He moved one hand from her hand to cup her cheek and Lumine leaned into the touch. Slowly, they leaned closer to each other. They were centimeters apart, their breath slowed and they-

BZZZZZZZTTT

The Ferris Wheel jerked suddenly and Xiao was pushed into Lumine, their lips missing when Xiao’s foot slips and his face landing somewhere else.

“Xiao!”

Where his face landed was..... soft, and warm. He froze and turned beet red when he realized where his face was.

“Xiao, uh, are you ok?” Xiao shot up and back into his seat.

“My- my apologies. I didn’t mean to land there. I, uh, don’t usually do that.”

“It’s ok. I forgive you. Though I wouldn’t have minded if you did that somewhere more, private~” Lumine giggled at how flustered Xiao became.

“You-” Xiao felt like he was dying, if they were on the ground he’d want it to eat him whole. Lumine’s teasing was almost too much for him, even if he couldn’t say he disliked it.

A peaceful silence enveloped the two until the Wheel jerked again and began moving. It was late when they finally got out so they decided to end the night here. Hand in hand they walked out and Xiao couldn’t help but think that the private moment the two had together was nothing less than a blessing. Then again, life with her in his life seemed to be a blessing in of itself.

Twt Xiaolumi Week Day 4: Warmth or Found Family

The moon was far past its peak when Xiao and Lumine were awoken by a knock at their door. Lumine got out of their shared bed and opened the door to see Qiqi with puffy eyes and dried tears on her cheeks.

“Qiqi had a nightmare. Can Qiqi stay with Miss Lumine and Mister Xiao?”

Of course, Lumine couldn’t deny the sweet girl. It wasn’t long ago that Baizhu became too old to care for Qiqi and left her in Lumine and Xiao’s care. The change must have been difficult for her. So Lumine picked her up and carried her to where Xiao was watching them from their bed. She tucked Qiqi in between her and Xiao and brushed her hair gently.

“Can Miss Lumine sing Qiqi a lullaby? Qiqi likes Miss Lumine’s voice.”

“Of course.”

Lumine hums a soft melody. Xiao can’t help but relax as well, Lumine’s voice always calms him down after his own nightmares. He smiles, he thinks that Lumine would make a great mother someday. A faint blush burned his cheeks at the thought.

When Qiqi fell asleep, Lumine turned to Xiao. “What are you thinking about?”

Xiao becomes redder. “N-nothing.”

“Really?”

“Hmph.” Xiao looked towards Qiqi to avoid Lumine’s gaze. “I was thinking that you would be a good mother someday.”

Lumine grew red and looked away, covering her face with the back of her hand. “I uh, didn’t expect that. I think you would make a good father.”

“Why’s that?”

Lumine moves her hand from her face to pinch Xiao’s cheek. “Don’t think I didn’t see you playing with Qiqi while I was out doing commissions. I saw just as I got back.” Xiao blushed again. He didn’t realize she has seen them. He was so focused on keeping Qiqi happy that he didn’t notice her return until Qiqi saw her from the balcony.

“Don’t tease me.” He holds the hand that was pinching him and kisses it. “Perhaps... it wouldn’t be too bad to raise a child... if it was with you.”

Lumine, endeared and flustered by his confession, quickly ducked back into the covers and hid her face with the pillow. Xiao chuckled and brushed Qiqi’s hair as she stirred a little from the sudden disturbance. He then laid back down onto the bed and whispered goodnight.

Yes, having a child wouldn’t be bad at all as long as it meant he could have more moments like this, being a family. A safe, loving family.

What if when Lumine and Aether landed in Teyvat, one of them was asleep? Like they were both together, but one is asleep so the other has to go around to find a 'cure' to wake them up??

I think canon!Traveler is very kind and generous and we can definitely say this partially comes from the hmm time and ability to? But with their literal only person in the world being unconscious for an unknown reason in an unknown world, there’s less of this unconditional help and more conditional help

What do I mean? I mean canonically, Traveler just does everything for everyone and chats with everyone and is just really, really selfless and kind with their time. But since they have to care for their twin now, it manifests in two ways: 1) Traveler spends more time with their twin and searching for a cure, and thus obviously has less time to help others leading to... 2) Lots of conditional help. I’ll fix your roof if you let us stay the night. I’ll send this letter but I need enough money for herbs. The Traveler is, ultimately, kind, but there’s a difference between how you can act if you’re searching for someone vs if you’re caring for someone who’s completely dependent on you and in a coma

Traveler bonding with Bennett over looking after people they love

Traveler desperately studying medicine and magical instances because they know this isn’t natural

Traveler jumping on every strange and mysterious occurrence because what if it holds the key to awakening their twin?

Praying to gods they don’t believe in because they’re just desperate and will take any chance for their twin to be okay

Traveler getting close to Lisa from spending so much time in the library, getting close to Barbara and Qiqi and Baizhu in the search for a cure

Less fighting, more investigating

Soft, quiet moments of comfort with their newfound friends where the Traveler is just terrified of being left alone without their twin, and being comforted that even if their twin doesn’t wake, their friends will be by their side

I love this so much tho the first thing that came to mind was “how tf is the traveler carrying their twin all over teyvat? Do they have a giant baby carrier thing?” Because I’m a dumb bitch lol

OKAY @genshin-garbage​ I love this because I also thought a lot about this!!! Behold my conclusions:

Traveler dealing with the additional expenses of traveling with merchants or hiring a carriage

The twin being left behind in inns and taverns to sleep while Traveler flits around the city, anxiously feeling hyperaware of their absence

The Dramatic Reveal when someone goes to the Traveler’s residence and there’s their comatose twin

Traveler leaving their twin with their travelling companions while they fight off attacks from hilichurls or monsters, knowing full well that their twin is defenseless 

Traveler asking healers to make house calls even though they don’t have the money to afford it 

Traveler bridal carrying their twin when necessary

Traveler’s friends helping! Venti sending a wind to carry the unconscious twin or Diluc just piggybacking them or Keqing sending a full on horse drawn carriage

Also for the third one my brain was like:
