I will never forgive the lot of you that demanded to add QIA on the end of LGBT.
I'm bisexual. My mother doesn't know this. She likely won't ever know--or at least, won't know until I'm long out of her house. And I just got done having a discussion with her where not only did I have to explain to her what those letters meant, but also get into LGBT politics to explain WHY they were invalid and that a screaming minority of the community were able to add them.
I had to look my mother in the eye and tell her that Q is for q*r, that it's a slur, and that the community should never, ever be identified as q*r, especially by straight people.
I had to tell her that I is for intersex--the people that have ASKED US not to include them in the community because they have a genetic defect.
i had to explain to her what asexual people are and that even tho they aren't oppressed, they're lumped in with us anyway.
and more than that??? I had her ask me about pansexuality. you know what she thought? she thought that because pannies put trans people into their own separate category unlike bisexuals, that trans people don't ever want to transition. that they're just feminine guys and masculine girls using different names and pronouns to be trendy, and that THAT is what pansexuals are attracted to.
do you understand what you've done to us? do you get it? you are causing vitriol in people because you're trying to be "inclusive" and "special".
when I explained to her what gender dysphoria is, she said, "oh, so, many of them don't transition because it's really expensive" LIKE!!! Y'ALL!! my mom does not like the LGBT community!! but even her homophobic ass figured out that, since there are no known treatments for trans people besides transitioning, that they should have insurance covering it so that trans people can transition!!! I took her from being angry and annoyed and upset bc if she didn't get the acronym right she'd be vilified in today's society as well as viewing trans people as trenders bc of pansexuals, to actually somewhat supporting trans people's rights to transition!!!
how many people feel the way she did?? and furthermore, how many of these people have someone willing to risk their own closeted asses just to correct misinformation??? not a lot!! extremely few!!
the bullshit that QIA+, mogai, m-spec, and tucutes have spouted are making their way into the real world. you’re ruining the progress we were making. you’re causing confusion, anger, and rejection. you are HURTING the LGBT community and I, for one, am fucking sick of it. fight beside us for ACTUAL equality, or shut the fuck up and keep your grubby little fingers off the real world where, you know, things actually matter and have real consequences.
