More like one final look around before I demolish the place for New Years (not deleting/restarting! Just some flattening). For 2021 I’ll hopefully document Gladebrook’s development better.
I didn’t think things through, though. Before I went around taking pics I was measuring things using the paths so everything’s a bit messy. 😂

So let’s start off with the airport/entrance.
It’s nice! I like it, but I think I’ll like what I’m planning better. It’s a bit crowded with all the trees right now.
To the left was this empty space, right in front of Bangle’s house. It doesn’t really serve a purpose. Who knows what this will turn into...
To the right, you’re on your way towards resident services. I covered up some of the paths I was counting with but Rudy fell asleep on one. See what I mean by the crowded trees?
Resident Services itself. I like the cliffs but I’m not quite sure what to do behind the cliffs since they’re so tall and block things. Right now there’s a little “orchard”. It’s really only two of each fruit tree. On top of the cliffs are peach trees, Gladebrook’s native fruit. I recently redesigned the flag; I made it easy to recolour so I can change it up each season.
To the right of Resident Services is this little park. It doesn’t really serve any purpose either. It looks nice, though. Just noticed I got lazy recolouring the furniture. It was all supposed to be white, haha.
Continuing right, is the first residential area. There are four houses: Rudy, Bianca, Reneigh, and Portia live here. I spent a long time breeding gold flowers for Christmas time for the whole island but I think they look the best here.
Up the steps and you see my first mess. This is my shopping area with the museum in the middle, Nook’s to the left, and Ables to the right. The museum’s seven-tile plot is annoying so I have to redesign this area a bit to make it look how I want it. On each side of the museum are the rocks, three and three.
Here’s Nook’s. To the left is a little sitting area which leads into another small park.
Here’s Ables. The path continues to the right to my farming area, and behind Ables is the secret beach...

Let’s go back over by Nook’s, and continue left. This place is relatively new. When I first started ACNH the shops were here, then I moved them over to where they are now next to he museum, back in September or so. Then I moved the campsite here, then I moved Ankha, Lionel, and Kiki’s houses here. And now it’s a little park. There was park equipment in here before but now I’m using it for building snowmen. Continue left for the beach. It’s not a very exciting beach, so I didn’t take pictures of it.
Down the steps is another residential area, only three houses this time since I couldn’t fit a fourth. Lionel lives on top, Ankha and Kiki are below.
As you can see this is where my promenade is, too. It’s a lot smaller than it once was.
Back towards Resident Services, further to the right, is my house. I recently moved the cliffs back a bit and gave myself a bigger yard. I didn’t want to give myself a beach house but I didn’t really have much choice early game and haven’t felt like moving since. My yard has red and white flowers like the rest of the island for Christmas but the cliffs have pink and orange lilies since those are my favourite colours. I debated on removing them and putting some more Christmassy flowers up there but decided it was too much work. 😂 The cliffs were much fuller at one point, and now that I changed things a bit, it’s more bare. I’m not sure I like it. I’d like to change it up while I’m doing re-terraforming everything but I don’t have any ideas yet.
Continue right for my east beach. It’s more tropical over here and Molly and Rolf live here. There’s a little stand, too.
No need to tour the beaches since there’s nothing on them. They’re being used as flower storage! So let’s go up the path...
This part is my most recent terraforming feat. It’s not very exciting but it fills out the space. Early on a house was here, and when the house moved spots, I put in a park. Now that the park is elsewhere, I decided to place some cliffs.
Ever since I started ACNH I’ve had no idea what to do with this upper part of my island. The western side of my island was so developed and there was no reason to move anything over here, so I decided to make it more natural. It’s cramped, though, and awkward in spots. I might change some things later. Lionel and Ankha used to live up here, and everything was much more “garden-y”, with a fountain and lots of flowers.
Across the bridge is the entrance to the campsite. Ankha and Lionel’s houses were side-by-side and when I moved them over to the developed side of the island, their porches remained, and it gave me the idea of making a split path like this.
And that also gave me the idea to put the campground here, surrounded by cliffs. It’s cozy and I like it a lot. Before, the campsite was on the top right of my island where my farm area is now, but I was never happy with it. Then I moved it to where the shops used to be on the developed side, where the park is.
I had some extra space over here and tried to put a “secret” area with an “outdoor bath” or whatever the item is called. It looks kinda dumb.
Finally on the tippy-top of my island is the farming area. The farming area I’ve been trying to find a spot for since summer when vegetables were datamined. “Oh the vegetables will come soon, better find an area for them.” How foolish I was... Right now it’s being used for pumpkins, mostly. To the left is where I breed my my gold roses. My second file, “Fae”, lives up here. She was supposed to be a more “natural” character but I haven’t found much use for her and I considered deleting. Right now her house serves as a farmhouse at a Christmas tree farm. If you visit, I’ve roped it off so you can’t go inside! >:) You aren’t missing anything, it’s not furnished. Under where the pumpkins are is a little stream that separates the farm from the side of the cliffs the campsite is on (as you can see in the above pic!)

im still mad at how nintendo decided to do updates for acnh. i was expecting them to put EVERYTHING in the game at launch. i’m talking all the furniture from acnl, happy home designer. but no, we only have a handful of furniture sets, too bad if you want the modern, robo, stripes, polka dot, rococo, astro, or ranch sets back. and thats not even everything that’s missing
i can’t think of any reason why they couldnt have put all that in the game at launch and then gave us the seasonal stuff when the time was appropriate.
so many people have played the game for a month and have not picked it up since april and have no reason to return to it. i played acnl for a year and a half straight before taking breaks from it. i would play it at least an hour a day, even with time travelling. i simply did not get bored. then i learned how to hack towns and acnl lasted me until the welcome amiibo update came out. with acnh i was bored with it in less than five months. the halloween update got me back to playing but now i’m bored again. i’m sure they’ll get me back in but i can’t say the same for everyone else
blah blah “making the game’s life longer” but why couldn’t they have put in all of the classic items. why. when acnh came out i was expecting ALL of the old items in the game and there would be regular updates for seasonal events as well as completely new furniture.
if pocket camp can get new items monthly, why can’t acnh? “ooooo pocket camp is done by a different team, pocket camp has microtransactions” so what? acnh has sold over 25 million copies in less than a year and sales arent stopping any time soon. pocket camp, as well as just about every other nintendo mobile game, makes no money. so if the "pocket camp team" can keep releasing furniture items for a game that's barely profitable, wtf is the acnh team's deal? why can't THEY give us new content? why can't they give us the OLD content?
maybe acnh was rushed, i don’t know. i know they had to delay the game, obviously. but it’s SO... ugh
and i bring up furniture bc designing is one of my favourite aspects of ac. but it’s also the easiest thing the team could do, i think. the roost will eventually get here, but maybe it will be too late for some people.
things like improvements to villager dialogue i think are never going to come. the dialogue was already terrible in new leaf, it’s even worse now. i think nintendo just thinks that the villagers aren’t that important any more, they’re better off as personality-less dolls than actual characters. maybe if people are vocal enough about it they can take this into consideration for the next ac game but for nh i dont think it’s ever going to improve
was pretty disappointed overall with the new update, i was expecting more seasonal furniture since most things in the trailer have been in the game since launch

the storage size doubling is nice but i wanted more furniture :/ the halloween update was really good and kept me playing for a LONG time, i dont know how many hours i spent on getting my town ready for halloween.
i’m surprised they didnt put more focus on these new furniture items.. i guess i’ll have to see what’s new once its added, huh. one of the items i’m counting on to return this update is the poinsettia because my xmas decorations just aren't complete without them :/ but since nintendo thought it would be a good idea to get rid of, like 90% of ac’s furniture catalogue, there’s a good chance we won’t see it for a long time, if at all :)
