You guys I just got the notification: glmfic turns 9 today! Can you believe it??
I am so grateful to every single person following this blog. You have become more than readers to me, you are like...family? It's hard to put into words. I love seeing you guys pop up, reading your comments, giggling, laughing, teasing and scheming with you. You are my emotional support team. You make great writing days better, and motivate me through tough writing days. Because of you, my writing doesn't feel lonely. Every time I sit down to write, it's like you're all clustered behind my computer chair, reading over my shoulder. I don't know how to ever fully say thank you for all your love and support. I'm going to be cheesy here, but your really are the wind beneath my wings <333
Nine years together is a special milestone and in honor of that, here are nine pieces of GLM related trivia:
1.) I have your reviews printed out and posted on my desk :) I really mean it when I say I read each one and that they mean so much to me...some make me motivated, some make my heart full, and others make me laugh. Thank you all!
2.) The single longest chapter of GLM is chapter nine (In Which: Mai Is A Runaway Bride), clocking in at 24k...wow!! I remember trying to break that chapter into two, but it didn't work? I am always blown away when you guys tell me you read it in one sitting!!
3.) The most reviewed chapter of GLM is chapter twenty-seven (In Which: Mai's Tea Is Stolen) and I totally get why! After waiting three chapters (and years besides), we get to see Naru *finally* return from Tokyo...only to steal Mai's tea and faint in her arms <3
4.) My personal top three favorite chapters:
-(Chapter 23) In Which: Mai is Match Made (Again)...that chapter just came together like a perfect storm. The building suspense of the case, the horror of the blood rain...and that ending scene. One of my most favorite hands-down between Mai and Naru. The intimacy of Naru standing behind Mai, helping her clean up at the sink...oh gosh I'm swooning just thinking about it. The emotional intensity of their argument afterwards...Naru worried that Mai is in over her head, Mai worried about Naru, but desperately protecting Mr. Miyuki's secret. The drama! Plus when you consider, as you my dear smart readers have put together, Naru used his PK that night and was weak, yet he *still* put Mai before himself...what a guy our Naru <3
-(Chapter 27) In Which: Mai's Tea Is Stolen...of course Naru's return is my favorite too! The agony of the build up. The literal ache in Mai's chest. The whole chapter you're holding your breath...and then: surprise, he's there. Right in front of Mai. Mai's so relieved, if I didn't hold her back she probably would have thrown herself at Naru in that scene not gonna lie...BUT Miss Miyuki showing up throws delicious angsty roadblock to our lovers reunion. Still got our lovely finger brushing, Naru stealing Mai's tea which has so many juicy layers to it, and to top it all, a classic emotional argument resulting in Naru fainting in Mai's arms. So goooood.
-(Chapter 30) In Which: Mau Crashes The Party...SUCH a fun chapter. Writing about the glitz, chaos, and turmoil of the sponsor's dinner was way too fun. It was so exciting introducing you to a new character: Madame Miyuki...which lead to another of my most favorite Mairu moments. Naru's "rescue" of Mai. Mai sharing the secret of Mr. Miyuki for the first time is big enough, but then Madame Miyuki asking her to use her abilities for her...HUGE. And potentially dangerous...? Never fear. Cue heroic Naru: bursting on to the scene and saving his girl with one of my most favorite lines ever: "I'm sorry, but she only works for me"...oooh, possessive much?
5.) I have detailed map of Japan on my wall of my bedroom and Niko's name was inspired by the city of Nikko in Tochigi Prefecture in Japan :)
6.) My inspiration for the title Ghost Hunters, Lies, & Money actually comes from the American TV Show J.A.G, which I grew up watching and loved. There is an episode titled: Lawyers, Guns and Money...and I thought to myself, that's it! Fits perfectly!
7.) I was seventeen years old when I wrote the first chapters of GLM. I am thirty-five now. Oh my goodness, where does the time go?!
8.) The first review ever for GLM was left on March 28th 2007 and read: "Wai~! Love it! Update when you can! :D" Thank you first reviewer, I hope life is being good to you wherever you are today! <3
9.) Here is a link to my first post ever on this blog. I genuinely feel so blessed and lucky to have watched this space grow and fill with so much love and support. You've made these past nine years so special, here's to more!
