Hello, and thanks for checking out the Random Traits and Aspirations mod! This mod came to be, because I realized that over time, I’ve been creating basically the same sims over and over. They only use a handful of traits, and only end up with one of a few aspirations. This mod is an attempt to fix this problem by randomizing the traits and aspirations chosen for your sims as they age up!
This has been updated, with all new functionality! It's more compatible with other mods than ever, and now shows the default popups on age-up, so you can still change traits & aspirations if you'd like -- they'll just be pre-populated!!

I finally got the EA app to load, and I can confirm that this mod is WORKING! I did notice a weird, minor bug where children will be assigned a trait, but some text is also displayed in the panel that says that the child has no traits. This goes away after a few in-game minutes. Not sure what is causing this, but it doesn’t break anything and disappears on its own! I’ll look into it, but it’s probably an EA thing

How does it work?
The birthday dialog no longer appears. Instead, when sims age up from any life stage between baby and YA, a random, weighted, age-appropriate trait and aspiration will be selected for them (if applicable). This does NOT add randomization to CAS!
Weighted Selection
Traits may be “passed down” from grandparents and parents. If your sim spends a lot of time with another caretaker or friend, they may also pick up traits from that sim. The weighting for these situations is not very heavy right now - in my testing, a trait was only passed on 1 in 5 attempts.
In the future, I will be adding additional weighted considerations to trait and aspiration status! Please see the “Future Plans” section.
Current Status
This mod is currently in BETA. This means that while I’ve been testing this within my own game, and haven’t had any issues, it could benefit from further testing. I will do my best to update the mod immediately if any bugs are reported!
Future Plans
The following features are being developed currently:
Skill-based trait and aspiration selection
Trait-based aspiration selection
Installation
Please unzip the downloaded file, and place the .ts4script file into your mods folder!
Feedback
I am always open to feedback! Please let me know what you think, or of any improvements that I can make. If you have any suggestions about new features, please let me know!

Cole was definitely the light of Chloe’s life. Even though she was always on the move, trying to finish gathering collections, she was always nearby and ready to make the best of the worst situations.
Chloe: Are you alright, dear? You haven’t seemed too happy on this trip.
Meg: I’m fine, I guess. I just am feeling such a rush of pressure, you know? It’s like now that I’m a young adult, I feel like I’m running out of time to do all of the things that I want to do! And yet somehow, I don’t even know what I want to do. Does that make sense?
Chloe: Oh, trust me, I know that feeling. My life should have ended a long time ago, and I’ve done so much with my time. Even still, there’s so much more left to do. All I can say is find what makes you happy, and focus on that.
Meg: What makes you happy, mom?
Chloe thought for a moment.
Chloe: Your father. What makes you happy?
Meg: Payton.
The two smiled at each other with a new understanding.
Meg’s birthday was a quiet family affair - well, quiet for the Cards at least! She grew into a young adult surrounded by her family, although she wasn’t too thrilled about the matter.
Meg: What? You really expect me to be out here without bug spray? I’m getting eaten alive! Mom!
Chloe: Alright everyone, HUSH.
Chloe had been trying to solve a puzzle in the stones of a wall, in order to get past. It was one that she’d done so many times before, in her many previous trips to Selvadorada. She’d never come with a herd of angsty teens in tow, though. It just wasn’t conducive to making progress. So, instead, Chloe set the puzzle aside and took the kids down to the touristy jungle pools. The girls enjoyed themselves swimming around, while Cole and Chloe got a chance to dig into some digging.
Suddenly, with a whoosh, Cole spun up into a shower of sparkles. When he landed again, he’d become an elder! The sound scared Chloe, whose nerves were already fraying from the commotion of the clambering teens. She spun just in time to witness her husband’s advancing age.
Chloe: I’m so sorry! I forgot about your birthday! Ugh, this is awful.
Cole: It’s fine, it’s fine. Let’s just move on.
The last vine had fallen away from the path, revealing the magical glowing light of the sunlight jungle that lay ahead of them.
With Meg’s birthday fast approaching, Chloe decided to take the family on a trip to Selvadorada! It was a perfect excuse to have fun with the family, but also get some work done.
Meanwhile, Chloe had lived a very long life. She’d nearly reached the end of it, but just wasn’t ready to let go of her husband and children yet. She also didn’t feel as though her work was complete - there were still so many fish to catch, things to do, discoveries to make! She took to drinking life-extending potions regularly.
Diego shot Meg a meaningful glance, which she fully understood. Unfortunately, she couldn’t find a way to smoothly extricate herself from that evening, or any others.
