A woman invites us into her home and place of work where she weaved rugs and mats that she sells for 20 Baht (40p). She told us that she can make about 5 in a day. That equates to about £2.00/day. Her granddaughter watches on as her mother has left the island in search of better job prospects.

This 80 year old woman invited us into her beautiful accommodation to take shade and provided us with water. Her kindness was unbound and she was unbelievably friendly. She told us that she had to get rid of her Durian farm because of the floods a few years ago and start up a homestay business to keep her head above water. She hopes the land will recover next year and she will be able to grow this bountiful crop once more.
