Dani Moonstar and Brightwood by June Brigman and Roy Richardson, HeroesCon 2015
I asked @stevemannionFD to do a recreation of one of my favorite covers, Bret Blevins and Tom Palmer’s Magik #4 (1984). From HeroesCon 2015 If anyone knows where the art for the original cover is hiding, let us know!
The New Mutants #19, September 1984, cover by Bill Sienkiewicz
The New Mutants by rileyrossmo @rileyrossmo1 You can hear us dicuss the New Mutants over on the Earth2 Network, beginning with our interview with Bob McLeod! http://earth2.podbean.com/e/great-x-pectations-ep-26-the-new-mutants-with-bob-mcleod/
I dig @sinKEVitch 's homage to Dave Cockrum's island creation. This appeared in New Mutants #23 (1985). Cockrum first drew Magneto's secret island in the Bermuda Triangle way back in Uncanny X-Men #148.
Never noticed the background characters in Ron Frenz's cover for Magik #2 (1983). Looks like Jabba the Hutt and a Dr. Seuss character on one side. But who's the bespectacled dude on the other side? Any guesses? steveraker?
Honestly, Illyana did a pretty solid job keeping the demon thing on the down-low. Until the whole demon barfing thing. That was a bit of a giveaway.
Magik by David Aja
I absolutely love this panel.
Uncanny X-Men #147, July 1981 Dave Cockrum, Josef Rubenstein, and Chris Claremont
We loved it, too!
Mystique strikes again! X-Men fans please read!
Most X-Men fans are familiar with the story told by Chris Claremont and John Romita Jr. in Uncanny X-Men #185, where Storm saves Rogue from Forge's Neutralizer, losing her own powers over the elements in the process. What many may have forgotten is that Storm knew where to find Rogue because Mystique told her. The interaction is mentioned in an Editor's Note as happening in a future issue of Marvel Fanfare.
What even fewer fans remember is that the conversation between Storm and Mystique took place in the backup story for Marvel Fanfare #40, a full 4 years after UXM 185 was published. In MF #40, Mystique and Destiny reveal that Destiny foresaw what would happen to Storm, and neither of them warned her.
We disucss this in episode 35 of Great X-Pectations!
