Violet Rivers Masterpost

Hi! I go by many names, most notably Groovy, Mackerel, and Axton. I am 22, and I started this project in early November of 2025. It is a project for me and my (very sapphic) tastes, but I hope that you enjoy it as well.

The Land of Violet Rivers is my passion project. It is my [CURRENTLY UNNAMED] dream game, and I am SO excited to be able to share it with you.

It is about these little towns who are divided and struggling, a witch who is unsure of herself, and a unicorn who as been cursed. You are the only one who can fix everything. Please, help the towns, help the people. They're counting on you.

Notes From The Edge Of A Lonely City

Move to a new city alone and you discover how long it takes for a place to feel populated by anyone who knows you. The first months are an exercise in talking to no one in particular. We're very very early, still in the writing phase,, Most of the design ideas are just visions in my head. BUT!!!! My best friends, who are making this with me, drew some of the characters!!

@xinixao drew this one!! The girl in the purple hair is Esmerelda, and the unicorn there is Seridia's cursed form (idk fully how this works yet, it's like she make Seridia's magic not recognize her,, somehow,, I'm working on it) The orange girl is the human (ish) version of Wynnifred, the bartender, and the purple one is her little sister, Yvette!!

And I did this of her true self. (I have mostly Seridia, I just love her a lot)

I'm also currently commissioning someone to design Xolis, he's a knight from Eldenshire!

Other than this, I have pinterest boards but that's about it so far,, I should draw some more for it,, I had a few town ideas in my head,, I imagine the title screen could have this long winding river, violets, lilacs, lavenders, crocuses, and water lilies all floating down in the water and growing along the river banks.

YES!!!!! OF COURSE!!!!!!!!!!!! I'M SO HAPPY YOU WANNA KNOW MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you wanna know about anything specific, feel free to ask. But for story, it's about this town who has been split from a bigger town due to infighting and witch drama (witch drama will come up a lot). They're struggling financially, their past farmer wanted to retire 5 years ago, and now there's a Problem that needs to be solved Now.

So the town Witch (i'll get into that) Esmerelda kind of lies a little bit to the mayor in order to get some free land to use as a bride. When the farmer gets here, she pulls them aside like "hey buddy listen, so you're not just here to farm actually. There's a unicorn in these woods and she's hurt and her magic is funky and I need you to get close to her because she does not like witches."

The unicorn, her name is Seridia, she's on my toyhouse,, but anyway, Seridia was cursed by the witch in the other town (which we will visit) ((unicorns are kinda hunted,, they're seen as dangerous because of rumors and lies that Zhephus, the capital city, has spread. they're also used to research magic)) And so the game is about helping her, fixing the drama between the towns so we can actually get along, redeeming a massive b i t c h, and lesbians.

For other information,, I can tell you about some of the characters, or the two routes (very very new), or witches as a whole and their system of magic, or unicorns or features or any of this, if you're interested!! I'm so so so happy you wanted to know more!! I love this game so much, I've been working on it since november!! I'm not done actually. So the magic system.

Again, all of this is still very early. So things may change. I've only been working on it for a few months now.

So being a witch is a job. It's not gender locked at all, people aren't born with the ability to wield magic, it's something they have to study. There's a few different witch schools, the largest being the one in Zhephus. The closest is the one in the town next door, Eldenshire. (This town is Vivinia)

There's a few different types of witch, the one that you are going to be most familiar with is a Town Witch like Esmerelda. They have to go to school for 10 and apprentice for 3-5, usually. This can overlap with their time at school. But they are in charge of supplying magic to the people of their town. They are not allowed to really leave their town once they become assigned a town,, (they can find a way around it tho). But anyway, they cast spells, make potions, transform the magic of the world into "usable" magic, and all that.

Esme specializes in potion making, she's a fantastic alchemist!! Lorelei, the witch of the other town, specializes in curses and transformative magic.

There's 2 more main witches who I have not introduced to you yet, but I can talk about them later when i go over the characters. (they're Melchor the Whimsical, and Kaede)

Oh!! A big thing!! People can't wield magic. Like at all. They have to be changed in order to be able to be a witch. It's a very exclusive club,, The transformation happens about a year into being in school. This gives students the chance to back out before it's too late. Once they undergo the process, they are locked in for life. =]

Gosh, I'm a little scattered, there's so much I wanna say.

Some of the other types of witch are traveling witches (who wander the world and go to towns who can't afford a witch, and helps them out. They also secretly act as substitutes for town witches when they need to leave), merchant witches (witches who are permitted to sell magical goods, they have to have a different stock for witches vs regular people, they also need to be able to tell who is a witch and who is not), council witches (politicians, they're evil. But maybe You can be the change we need (spoiler for the planned dlc(i have too many ideas))), teachers (self explanatory), archival witches (librarians and historians, they protect the past from those who may want to burn it), and entertainment or performative witches (a lot of clowns are like this!!). There may be more added later, as soon as I think of more jobs,,

Later I'll get into brooms, hats and robes, familiars, witch culture, witch drama, apprenticing, and the dreaded council.

Reasons you should totally stick around for my game, The Land of Violet Rivers (name subject to change).

We have witches and magic and unicorns and I think I have some fun world building!!

You can choose whether you want your farm to use magic or machines, this effects other stuff in the game too (this is a more recent addition, so we're still working on stuff for it)

There is a butcher and animal breeding system, but you can also pay someone to do it for a bit less meat

Hot old women, you can date them.

This is a very lesbian game, made for my tastes, so,, there's not as many men,, but the ones I do have are really goooood

You can have non-romantic roommates

POLYAMORYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can marry up to 2 people (or have 2 roommates), but you can date as many as you'd like, and when you get married, you can stay dating them.

I think my characters are real cuties,,

We have fantasy races!! And also a human version toggle (this changes the appearance and some dialogue for all the characters)

Giant beetles!! As pets!! In fact!!! If you are nice and friendly and don't kill monsters, then you're able to befriend them!!

I might need help deciding on names of characters or features,, AND ALSO!!!!!!!!!!! You might be able to put your witch ocs in the game later!!

2 whole towns to explore!!

A weekly market where you can sell all of your goods, and also shop from some other stalls!!

Dialogue options matter

AN ENEMY SYSTEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you're dating a character with kids, you have to actually get to know and get along with the kids

Interesting ranching with different animal needs, bi-seasonal crops and more detailed farming

You can "farm" the wild animals who eat your crops

A LOT MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We're still very very early in the planning, some of the characters are now named yet, and some store beats still need working on. But a lot of love is going to be put into this game, so if you stick around, I hope that you enjoy the process. And if you only find me when it's all finished, I hope that you enjoy it!!

in my farming sim game, getting married to one of the townspeople will have a significant impact on your gameplay. if you marry the rival farmer, their smaller farm will be merged with yours. if you marry the town alchemist/doctor you get a buff to all your alchemy and you wake up from getting knocked out in your own home instead of their clinic. if you marry the priestess she uh, idk she does weather related divine magic for you so you can choose the weather, idk i haven't thought too hard about that one yet
