Asher was sitting at one of the tables in the library trying to get through the charms essay he had put off until the last minute and to his credit he was doing a decent job of it but he wasn’t thrilled with his own decision to put it off. He had all weekend to get it done and you’d think being in his 7th year he’d have learned not to do this by now but he was a master procrastinator, it was a problem, honestly. He jumped when someone dropped their books rather loudly onto the table “Was that really necessary?” he asked in a hushed voice.
Is that [ASHER REEVES]! It’s so nice to see them back at Hogwarts! [HE] is [17], and a [7th YEAR] [GRYFFINDOR] and totally looks like the muggle [AVAN JOGIA]. They are known to be [DEDICATED], and [RESILIENT] but also have a tendency to be [ALOOF] and [ILL TEMPERED]. There are whispers around the castle that in the unrest that is brewing they are [NEUTRAL]. [OTHER INFO: He’s probably not gonna stay neutral but I honestly don’t know what side he’ll end up on. beater for the quidditch team.]
Full Character Name: Asher Micheal Reeves
Does your character have siblings? What are their names?: Nope, he was an accident and an only child
What is your characters best subject in school?: Charms and Transfiguration are tied
What is your characters wand? English Oak, Phoenix, 13"
English Oak: A wand for good times and bad, this is a friend as loyal as the wizard who deserves it. Wands of English oak demand partners of strength, courage and fidelity. Less well-known is the propensity for owners of English oak wands to have powerful intuition, and, often, an affinity with the magic of the natural world, with the creatures and plants that are necessary to wizardkind for both magic and pleasure. The oak tree is called King of the Forest from the winter solstice up until the summer solstice, and its wood should only be collected during that time. It is said that Merlin’s wand was of English oak.
Phoenix feather core: This is the rarest core type. Phoenix feathers are capable of the greatest range of magic, though they may take longer than either unicorn or dragon cores to reveal this. They show the most initiative, sometimes acting of their own accord, a quality that many witches and wizards dislike.Phoenix feather wands are always the pickiest when it comes to potential owners, for the creature from which they are taken is one of the most independent and detached in the world. These wands are the hardest to tame and to personalise, and their allegiance is usually hard won.
Can your character cast a Patronus? What is it? What memory do they use?: No. He doesn’t have a strong enough happy memory, if he could it’d be a Rhinoceros
-The rhinoceros is a large, thick-skinned mammal known for the horns on its face. Although it is mostly a passive creature, the rhino can become extremely aggressive when threatened, charging down its predators on its own or in a herd. The rhino makes a sturdy, formidable Patronus, spearing Dementors on the tip of its horn or holding its ground to defend the caster.
Who is your characters best friend?: He’d probably tell you it’s James
Does your character look up to anyone? Who?: No. He doesn’t think any one person is worth looking up to.
What is your characters relationship like with their family?: Awful. They didn’t want him to say the least and they make it obvious in more ways than one.
If your character has siblings, do they have a favorite? They don’t have siblings
What is your characters go-to spell in a duel? He hasn’t dueled enough to have a “go-to” spell but it’d probably be something Rictusempra.Â
What spell does your character use most often?: Accio for sure, his first bit of accidental magic was summoning his cup from the counter where his mom had left and forgotten it to himself when he was 3. He just finds it a lot more useful than most spells.
Five or more facts/headcanons about your character:
-Ashers parents treat him terribly, at best they’re considered neglectful but neither of them had wanted kids, not when they had him anyway, and they arent shy about letting him know how they still feel that way.
- Asher doesn’t care about houses, well, aside from quidditch, thats the only time he can understand house pride, maybe thats because he plays on the Gryffindor team though.
-Asher can play the piano, he can actually play several muggle instruments at least semi-decently, but he’s really good at the piano.
-Asher has an old black cat that wandered into his house when he was about 8 as a kitten that attached itself to him, his parents tried several times to kick it out of the house, even going as far as to try and give it away to friends. Every time without fail it wound up back at their house and at Ashers side. Asher affectionately named her Mystery because even he didn’t understand it. He loves her though and tends to call her Misty now and these days she spends most of her time on his bed or in the common room by the fire waiting for him to come back from class, she doesn’t have the energy for wandering the castle anymore, though occasionally something will spark her interest enough for it to be worth it. Usually those times shes walking at Ashers feet trying to make him pick her up.
-Asher is gay, although he hasn’t told anyone that, he’s too worried about it getting back to his parents and giving them another reason to hate him so he keeps it to himself not wanting to risk it.
- He tends to spend the holidays at the school, he’d much rather be there than home but honestly he also actually really enjoys it. He’s had friends offer to let him spend the holidays with them but he’s turned them down almost every time. He loves being at the castle when its basically empty. Especially for Christmas when it snows. Hogwarts is beautiful to him at any time but something about it being empty + being decorated for Christmas and the snow outside really seems beautiful to him. He loves going to the top of the Astronomy tower and just sitting there looking out at the grounds. It’s always so peaceful to him.
