Microphone Requirement in VibePro
I wanted to make sure everyone knows about the new iOS 7 privacy requirement of apps requesting access to the microphone. Many users have reported that their accelerometers are non-responsive since upgrading to iOS 7. Users that have this problem most likely said no to microphone access in VibePro. Even though the accelerometer works through the dock or Lightning connector as far as the application is concerned it is all the same thing. To fix this problem on your iPad open up the settings app (gear icon) and select privacy. Then select Microphone and ensure that VibePro is turned on. Please see the screenshots below for additional information.
Update #2: iOS 7 and Our Apps
Here is another update for those that have updated to iOS 7.
iRotorBalancer and iVibraMeter:
Both of these apps have iOS 7 updates on the way. iVibraMeter will be available any hour now. iRotorBalancer will be available in a few short days.
VibePro:
The upcoming VibePro 6 is still on track to launch this month and is fully iOS 7 compatible. It will include full iOS 7 compatibility and many more features including a more powerful route workflow and in-app trending.
Please let us know if you have any questions regarding iOS 7 and our apps.
Quite a difference! See how GTI transforms not only the performance of your spindle, but the appearance of it!
An Update on iOS 7 and Our Apps
We have discovered some bugs with our apps in iOS 7. Please do not update if these features are important to you.
VibePro:
1. Text: The text icon in the spectrum screen allows you to add custom text to the spectrum view.
2. Threshold Line is also not functional.
The upcoming VibePro 6 will be released in late October and is fully iOS 7 compatible. It will include those two features and many more including a more powerful route workflow and in-app trending.
iRotorBalancer and iVibraMeter:
Both of these apps have the same bug found in the Report Manager. The ability to add a new plant is not functional. New machines can be added to existing plants and data can be saved. But, new plants cannot be created. We are working on a fix for these apps, but it will take some time as Apple requires the entire app to be rewritten for iOS 7.
The apps are otherwise perfectly functional. Please let us know if you have any questions regarding iOS 7 and our apps.

Predictive Maintenance Driving Value for the Wind Industry
What is the true value in vibration analysis ...
Monitoring is not just about the current health of the machine; it is also concerned with future trends and future failures. Using vibration monitoring to predict rotor shaft bearing – or “main bearing” – failures can be very challenging but can deliver significant O&M cost savings. If an operator is able to plan the maintenance events with sufficient lead time, they are often able to mobilise a crane or large vessel during the low wind season and have all the requisite parts and engineers ready. In many cases, additional cost can be saved by performing several similar maintenance events at the same time while the crane or vessel is available."
One cost calculation showed that for a U.S. onshore wind farm, the value of predictive monitoring of main bearing failures could be up to US$370,000 per year. Translate this same thinking to a large offshore wind farm and the saving could be even more significant.
