Relaxin’ with Daft Punk
Relax Vol. 49, March 2001 Issue
(They’ve ended up as androids; will there be more people like this in the twenty-first century…? They come in a version with streaming lights and text even at the back, and a second, reduced version which omits that - ah, yes. The actual shoot took place with the lighter second version. Even so, they’re still machines, and seemed to find changing their batteries particularly troublesome; one would assume that next-generation androids would have the choice of improvement. While we were listening to lots of music, we asked the additional question (very carefully, mind you, as it seemed too simple) - ‘What else do you have, aside from music?’ And we thought that Thomas suddenly assumed a very serious expression (… do androids have serious expressions?); during the interview he spoke of a 'Daft Philosophy’ that made a great impression on us, and after the shoot, they boldly went forth to the next location. Oh, and also - during the interview, Thomas was checking his email on a VAIO C1.)
(This is what I like about the Japanese interviews/articles. They play along with the origin mythos of Daft Punk perfectly, with such a gentle playfulness that I can only hope to capture in full.
This is a companion snippet to this post I made a couple of weeks back. Images originally posted by accio-sh, though I can no longer find their original blog for credit. Please inform me of any errors or suggestions for better wording!)
