Alright, I just realized that y'all don't know much about Elizabeth... So, here is some information about my Red Dead Redemption OC, Elizabeth Belle Smith.
E.g: Her lore, likes/interests, personality, hobbies, etc... (Read at your time. It's super long.)
Elizabeth's backstory/lore:
Elizabeth was born on April 10, 1867 and grew up living in New Orleans and in a high society. Elizabeth was the daughter of a French socialite, who was also a lawman and known as her father. Her father taught her the rhythm of poetry and many philosophies. Elizabeth's mother was an American woman who was determined to give her proper studies, and a high education, also encouraging Elizabeth to read lots of books to keep her mind sharp.
Even though she did have a decent relationship with both of them, Elizabeth still felt pressured to do everything perfectly throughout her whole life just for them. (Such as following every rule of the high society, almost perfect expectations from her, becoming the perfect proper lady, etc.) It felt suffocating.
At age 10, surprisingly, Elizabeth's father taught her how to use a gun. He wanted her to know how to defend and protect herself. Which explains why she's good at using guns in adulthood!
When Elizabeth was an adult, (Her early 20s) her parents were killed after being ambushed and shot by a group of wanted criminals when they were on their way home... After Elizabeth found out, she was so devastated and unfortunately got into a deep state of depression.
Later on after mourning her parents death, Elizabeth realized the "high society" life and high expectations was just a slow execution and felt suffocating. So by, 1893, at age 26, she bought a ticket to go West, looking for a better life that gave her freedom and a life she can truly express herself without any perfect expectations.
One year later, in 1894, at the age of 27, Elizabeth crossed paths with the Van der Linde gang while driving a stagecoach. When Dutch van der Linde, alongside Arthur Morgan, John Marston, and Hosea Matthews, attempted to rob her, Elizabeth refused to surrender. Remembering her father's advice to always stand her ground, she fired a warning shot into the dirt beside Dutch's boots.
Arthur and John immediately raised their guns, but before either of them could act, Dutch held out a hand, silently ordering them to lower their weapons. Rather than taking offense, Dutch smiled. It wasn't every day someone had the nerve to stare him down without flinching. He admired her courage, her composure, and the conviction behind her actions.
Instead of leaving, Dutch struck up a conversation with her. One of the things he spoke about was freedom, and of escaping the suffocating expectations of high society, and of living beyond the reach of the government and the law. He mentions that his gang wasn't simply a band of outlaws, to him it was a family, a place where people could choose their own path.
Elizabeth hesitated. Everything she'd ever known had been built on duty, reputation, and rigid expectations. Yet the idea of a life where she could finally make her own choices was difficult to ignore.
After giving it a careful thought, she accepted Dutch's offer and officially joined the Van der Linde gang. Hosea and Arthur welcomed her before long, recognizing that she had earned her place. John, however, remained skeptical for a time. But eventually, he came to accept her as one of their own.
Elizabeth's role in the gang:
Elizabeth helps around the camp, by doing chores with the women there, helping or planning the missions when assigned/needed, sometimes to go hunt for food when she is done with her chores, and obviously, making money for the camp. (By robbing a bank, stagecoach, etc...) When she is free from work, she likes to check up on everyone in the gang, help the people when needed, or doing favors when asked too.
Personality:
Elizabeth is a stubborn, self-assurance, clear assertiveness and respectful woman who see's beauty in nature, philosophy, books and poetry. Elizabeth is a woman who can read people easily and can tell when they are lying, just by making good eye contact and reading their body language. Despite her strong personality, she has a heart of gold and cares deeply for her loved ones.
Some extra information about Elizabeth:
• Elizabeth is a huge nerd for poetry, writing, philosophies and books! Reading and writing is one her favorite hobbies and she loves to do those things in her free time or/and when alone.
• Her favorite colors are green, gold, brown, and cream! She finds comfort in earthy toned colors and it reminds her of nature. Though her main favorite is green!
• Her clothing style is pretty vintage and somewhat elegant/put together. Her wardrobe is filled with earthy toned colors, but you'll definitely see green the most. It's her main favorite color after all! She isn't picky with what she wears, though you'll mainly see her wearing a dress. But in some occasions, she'll wear pants when she is doing some complicated missions or hunting.
• Elizabeth has her hair up in a bun most of the time, due to getting hot easily once her hair is down, or her hair gets in the way when she is working, reading, or writing, but she always lets her hair down when it's special occasions and/or when she goes to sleep!
• Elizabeth doesn't only have a beauty mark on her upper lip and left cheek (right under her eye)... 👀 She has some on her body too! Which I will make another reference sheet for, showing those small details.
Dutch and Elizabeth's relationship summary:
Their relationship started off great. They were romantic, surprisingly wholesome, and overall made a charming couple.
However, at the beginning of Chapter 6 in Beaver Hollow, their relationship took a turn for the worse and gradually became toxic.
Elizabeth constantly tried to reason with Dutch and make him open his eyes to the fact that Micah was manipulating him. She tried to help him understand that his foolish and impulsive decisions were causing harm and putting others in danger. She also grew concerned that he was even starting to kill folks with no reason at all.
But Dutch would never admit he was wrong. His pride and ego always got in the way, which only led to more pointless, heated arguments between them.
By the end of Chapter 6, Dutch had visibly begun to lose his mind. He became increasingly paranoid, delusional, and completely manipulated by Micah. On top of that, the gang was falling apart, with many of its members leaving and going their separate ways. Finally, that's when their relationship came to an end.
↑ Now... this part of her story has two choices! Since in Red Dead Redemption 2 gives Arthur (You playing as him.) choices/options. Elizabeth has one too! She can either stay with the last remaining members of the gang, even as it's crumbling apart, or leave the gang after Arthur Morgan warns her to go for her own sake and safety.
Choice 1: Elizabeth leaves the gang during the events of Chapter 6 after Arthur warns her to leave because everything is starting to fall apart, and on top of that, Dutch is losing his mind.
Choice 2: Elizabeth, with her stubbornness, decides to stay and remain loyal to Arthur and John by sticking by their side. The least she can do is support, help in some ways, and be there for them. Even as everything is falling apart. And even if she has to constantly listen to Dutch's annoying delusions and simply endure his presence.
After the events of Red Dead Redemption 2, now forwarding to 1911 (rdr1), Elizabeth discovered through a newspaper that Dutch was still roaming free and was hiding in Cochinay, located in the Tall Trees region of West Elizabeth.
Elizabeth was angry, shocked, and filled with desperation knowing he was still out there. She wanted to take revenge on him, believing it would bring justice to everyone who had suffered because of Dutch's actions.
Elizabeth was still furious, deeply disappointed, and heartbroken over how Dutch had betrayed her, betrayed the gang, and become a backstabber. He chose Micah Bell, a man he had only known for six months, over the two men, John Marston and Arthur Morgan who Dutch had known for over 20 years and RAISED them, yet he still threw it all away because of his wounded pride and ego.
That's all I will be sharing about Elizabeth's story because... SPOILERS LMAO. But yes, Dutch and Elizabeth did meet again in 1911... But it definitely doesn't end well.
By the way, even though I wrote all of this down and worked really hard on her story, I still will make some changes to her lore and might add more to her story if I have too!
