weirdly ive been feeling a sense of peace over ds2 being kind of a mess. like it was a mess. but that means were free to do whatever we want actually 🌸

#i so cannot encourage anyone in good faith to get into comics but like. getting into comics makes you really good at this sort of thing #sometimes you read/watch/play something that is just kind of nonsense and you go ok. what can i cherry pick from this that i like :-)#that is the comics way #were just all going to ignore that i broke the tag limit on my last post. you can be at peace and also say hundreds of words of bullshit

#death stranding #death stranding 2 #higgs monaghan #art tag #this is uhh. my ‘processing that ds2 was kind of a mess’ piece……#part of me doesnt want to speculate bc im just some asshole and idk how game development works but the other part of me-#loves this series sooooo much. and of course if i get a game like this im gonna turn it over in my head a million times #anyway. i feel like the best way i can sum up my feelings on ds2 is that its whole story felt like a rough first draft?#like they had the beats of the story figured out but the connective tissue needed to make everything flow and make more sense just-#wasnt there…….#i feel like so much of the plot of the game esp. near the end just kinda happened.#everything with apac/apas and i guess higgs by extension i promise these thoughts are vaguely going somewhere #i take at face value higgs’ backstory and the events of ds1 and 2 and i go wow. what a sad and utterly miserable exsistence #pretty much nothing but pain and suffering with the exception being when he thought he was gods specialist baby in ds1… but ofc he wasnt….#imagine thinking your gods specialist baby and having a perfect explination as to why your life has been So Awful #just to find out youre not -> and then youre stuck in purgatory with nothing to do but seethe about this #and then when you get your chance for revenge you just get your ass beaten over and over and over (dw he loves it)#and then you get eaten by a giant baby.#i just remember when i got to the nakey part of his bossfight in ds2 going wow. my poor sad broken freak #no one gaf rejected by the universe doomed from the start ass character. my brain loves a guy who never even had a chance #anyway. rip higgs monaghan you would have loved youre not the one by sky ferreria #andimthinkingabouthowmuchineedyoubutyoureallywantsomebodyelse 😔#but like. she was so central to ds1. literally the most important girl in the universe.#<- survivor tag from my tagent on amelie i cant post because i BROKE THE TAG LIMIT 💛#all i wanted to say is i think my biggest issue with ds2 is the lack of her. i get shes sealed off and everything but i was so fckin baited #by higgs and the ghost mechs designs. wow this looks like a death cult formed around amelies image i cant wait to learn more about them 🥲#gonna run out of tags again but my final message: estrogen would have saved her heres how transfem higgs can still win GOODBYE

i think the most important takeaway from ds2 is that deadman is THE heart and soul of the series

dont get me wrong this has greatly entertained me the whole time ive been playing the game but one of the Things On My Mind as ive played ds2 has been Just How Objectively fragile should have blown higgs’s fucking head off in ds1 but didnt. like theres been A LOT of consequences already but oh my god. girl.

finished the game yesterday and well. well

#i have thoughts i think i need a little time to stew on them. also this is an art blog idk if i want to post blocks of texts here-#but this is My Blog i can do what i want and this is functionally a death stranding blog. anyways #boy fragile you should have just blown his head off. i think that would have been best for everyone shddhdgdvsd #i want to believe i understand the reasons she had waaaay less of a role in this game but mannnnnn—#devastated at how little amelie was in this game not gonna lie. because i love her to death obviously and shes the main focus in ds1–#but also because her imagery was SO essential to the ghost mechs??#their whole style teased like. extinction entity worshipping death cult to me i was so excited to see that idea expanded on and like….#it just wasnt….#idk you guys i love this series soooo much the absolute last thing i want to be is a wet blanket #but id be lying if i said i wasnt kind of underwhelmed coming out of this game o|-< i dont knowwww #i keep thinking about it/how i could possibly articulate my feelings but what keeps happening is—#i just think about how much i love ds1 and the mark its left on my heart which is a good thing. but i think—#‘stewing on how much you loved the previous entry’ is not exactly what you want when you make a sequel to something yknow… 😵‍💫 i dunnoooo #i will unblock all of my ds tags and see what people had to say on the game soon im really curious #and all of this is Not to say i didnt enjoy the game or anything like i had fun playing it and there were a lot of elements i liked-#am just not sure how i feel about how everything came together… or didnt 🤐#anywayy. ive been horrifically artblocked these past few weeks on top of spending my free time playing ds2-#so now that im done with the main story hopefully i can work on getting my drawing juices back #i did really love the art direction in this game. despite my better judgement i really want to draw some ghost mechs
