Jayce turns, his back straight, ready with his prepared remarks....
...and chokes on them.
Silco cocks an eyebrow, as though nothing about his appearance is even slightly amiss. He's. He's wearing--
Jayce's brain is struggling to comprehend it fully, because there is just some part of him that refuses to accept the fact that Silco's clothes are bright dyed in wild colors, sprayed on white...
with the dripping words "World's Best Dad" written across the chest.
Jayce stares for so long that he half thinks Silco's going to accuse him of checking him out- his eyes are fixed directly at Silco's chest and haven't moved. He thinks his jaw might be dangling a little, because several things are processing.
He's seen the spray paintings from the crime scene- the ones Caitlyn has reproduced with nightmarish accuracy in her notes and on her boards. The tiny monkey heads, the childlike-- aaah.
"Fuck." Jayce says, out loud, because there is truly not another word for this situation.
"Eloquent." Okay, Jayce was just going to ignore Silco snarking at him. He wasn't going to snark back right now, that was- not going to get anything useful done."
"--I think." He says, a little faintly. "We should just-- How old is she?"
Silco clicks his tongue, and he looks a little reticient, and Jayce realizes with a kind of dawning horror that Silco thinks this is going to be a point of omission, and just lifts his hands in surrender.
"Nevermind, it doesn't matter. I'll handle it."
Silco cocks an eyebrow. He looks disbelieving.
"I'll handle it." he repeats, extending his hand for Silco's papers. "Let me see what i'm dealing with, and I'll handle it."
"You'll handle it."
Jayce just tosses the pages he has in his hands off the barricade. they twist in the wind, scattering, lost immediately.
Silco hands the page over, and Jayce looks at it. "--This is steep." He says, and bites his lip. "--We need you to discontinue the production of shimmer and return the gemstone."
"Done." Silco says. "Anything else?"
"Not anymore." Jayce says. "Not until I draft a new agreement. We're going to have to work on a definition of unrestricted that the rest of the council will be happy with, but we can negotiate. I'll get you independence."
Jayce looks up, eyes blazing, sharp, and extends a hand.
