Current project. The Gaze.
The anNual 1:54 Art Fair at Somerset House. The thought provoking work of Hassan Musa.
I took part in my first ever group exhibition which was collectively curated by all of the artists taking part. The show was given the name ‘Obscurity’ to highlight the fact the institution of art has largely marginalised artist who “do not fit the brief” it is challenging to the classist and racist structure of the ‘art world’ as a hierarchical framework. It ran from 16th to the 20th November in Poplar.
Prem Sahib Exhibition at ICA. This exhibition highlighted the importance of the use of material in art. Sahib is very particular in the way he lists out the types of material he uses in his pieces. For example I interpreted the ceramic tiles as an allusion to toilets and urinals. This is a very subtle way to raise questions of sexuality and sexual conduct in male toilets more specifically relating to gay clubs.
Patterns in nature and sacred geometry. A brief encounter. Photographs taken at the Natural History museum and Leighton House museum.
I started reading this book by Batchelor which specifically holds grey in opposition to luminosity/ brightness. Orange is a colour that radiates warmth and brightness. On my way to uni I installed an orange peel man asking for a hug. Hugs release oxytocin, the bonding hormone. Warm can allude to an orange tint or hue as well as a comforting feeling.
Orange Sirens. This poem is mainly about orange and grey. They are juxtaposing colours and evoke different emotions in me. Here I am sitting in front of the painting that inspired the poem which is also called orange sirens.

Inflating a set of cat lungs
Lungs are by most accounts mundane. Everybody has them, few give it much thought. But sequestered within darkness of the chest cavity, enveloping the fluttering heart, there’s a incredible wonder to this oddly inflatable organ.
Dissection is a destructive process. Rudely excised from membranous mooring and nourishing vessels, the deflated lungs appear little more than bloodied meat; amorphous and exposed…….until a breath of air unfurls its secret glory.
Here, a set of cat lungs is inflated with a straw. Comprised of hundreds of millions of microscopic air sacks called aveoli, Mammalian lungs harbor air capacity that is difficult to believe unless seen. The color of the entire organ lightens into a soft pink, as each microscopic sac fills with air.
A debt of gratitude is owed to cyborgraptor for her assistance in creating these gifs, as well as the students that help me film this demo.
