Just finished reading this morning, and if you want to make audio drama, read this book. I wish I had it when I was launching LEF, and I plan to use it as a guide for future projects.
So, I’ve gotten behind on audio drama work because of family concerns and also because I’ve been working diligently on a longer play, but earlier this month, Waiting for Mallow, the ten minute play I wrote when I was first starting to write for stage, finally found its way to the stage and I couldn’t be prouder of the little play that took getting a PhD to write.
Last year, I loved doing a 5-episode arc at Serials with Hamlet, Prince of Denmark PI, and I was really bummed that I didn’t have the bandwidth for it this year, but it did mean that Mallow got staged!

The challenge with doing blackout poetry teavent, as compared to other teavent writing challenges I’ve done, is that you are bound by what is on the page, which does make it harder to capture the essence of the tea, which I have tried to do, not always effectively.
The process I selected was that for 25 of Shakespeare’s works, I used a random number generator to select a page, which would be the basis for the poem.
I suppose I could have instead been intentional with choosing the source page for each tea, but that would have made the process infinitely longer, which was what I was trying to avoid when I shifted away from doing letters this year.
I’m glad I’m doing this, and I’m having fun, but I don’t think it’s the best way to capture the essence of each tea.
