Korra wasn’t the least bit surprised to hear that Bolin had been the one going around. Ever since he officiated the marriage for Zhu Li and Varrick, he had this terrible knack to unite two people. Whether it be friendship or something more. So technically it was Bolin who officiated herself and Asami– because she had met Asami through Bolin while Mako was dating Asami.
It was probably, by far, the most confusing conversation she ever had with Bolin.
“Of course I care for her,” she implied heavily. “But I get what you mean. I don’t want to make things more complicated than what it already seems.” Not that things were complicated– she was truly happy for the first time in a very long time. Asami elicited that from her naturally. “But enough about me– How are you… and Varrick?” And truly she didn’t want to seem like she was prying, but she was curious to see how Varrick treated her now as his wife. Or vice-versa.
A small, modest smile pulled at Zhu Li’s lips. Korra and Asami would sort evey thing out eventually. But in their own time. “Nothing about it seems complicated to me. You are two young ladies who enjoy each others’ company. It’s that simple, really.” As the topic turned to herself, her hands automatically clasped. Not necessarily out of nervousness, more --habit. Yes, that was it. “We’re well, thank you. He’s attempting to make another mover and is working on patenting several new technologies.” Several amounting to exactly 67 new products or designs. Mainly spiritvine tech. For once, he was motivated by something besides money and influence. He didn’t want anyone to have the ability to harness that power again. So, until the laws are finally pushed through from the legislators, he’s locking everything up in legal shackles, with her help, of course. While explaining all this, Zhu Li. perhaps, missed that the conversation was not necessarily about business.
