Fuchsia OS
Google has been developing an open source OS for embedded systems, called Fuchsia. It's not an official project or release but could be a hint to life beyond Chrome OS. Apparently, the SDK uses the Dart language and offers Vulkan based rendering. See Fuchsia repositories on github

The Verge recently posted a piece about the Zaurus MI-C1 (not a Linux based device). I used that camera on a Zaurus SL-5500. It was not very good, with lots of noise in low light.

openSUSE coming to ARM
An openSUSE on ARM release candidate has recently been announced. The developers are concentrating on a few architectures to begin with but do include a QEMU image.
KDE Launches Partner Network
Following KDE's Plasma Active environment for tablet computers as used in the Vivaldi tablet; KDE is putting together more pieces of the jigsaw puzzle in the form of the Make Play Live Partner Network.
The Vivaldi tablet is running Mer. Mer is Linux + HTML5/JS/QML based off MeeGo and plans to be involved with Tizen. This looks like a lot of interesting ingredients but how will the soup taste ?

Tizen Linux now available
On the 30th April Tizen 1.0 Larkspur was released including SDK and source code. There's also a simulator, emulator and IDE. Images available via RealNorth, featured on Engadget.
The GTA04 is an open and hackable phone based on the Cortex-A8 CPU. Follow the title link for more info and pictures.
openSUSE on ARM
An interesting blog post by Bernhard Wiedermann about getting openSUSE to run on his Cortex A8/arm7 based smarttop. openSUSE is targetting armv5tel and armv7hl architectures. Unless I'm mistaken, armv5 is the same as Zaurus.
