"I bend but I don’t break."
Background:
Carrie didn’t choose this life for herself; her parents did. People often dreamed of being policemen or firefighters, even engineers. Nobody ever wanted to be a carnival act. However Carrie was born into this life and so she conformed to it, albeit rather begrudgingly. With her parents’ reputation as flame dancers, people expected Carrie to have the same skills as well, but in reality, she did not. As much as her parents wanted her to follow in their footsteps, she just didn’t share their dreams. Mostly because she wanted to rebel but also because she didn’t have the same capabilities or interests in that particular act. That was when she found out that she had a knack for contortion without knowing that her ability was beginning to manifest.
Carrie mouthed off to people all the time and spent her time trying to solidify her image as that rough and tough girl who didn’t care. All her life she heard that the carnival was a family and they were all there for each other. She scoffed at that idea, saying that the place was more like a cult than a family. She didn’t want to be a sideshow act.  Carrie resented the instability that overtook her life and wasn’t shy to show it.
In 2008, she finally got fed up with the carnival and ran away. She stole one of the motorcycles that were used for stunts and left. Life was hard though. All she ever knew how to do was exploit her ability. As prideful as she used to be, she was reduced to begging for money now that she was on her own. There were days where she would starve or fight for a place to sleep under the bridges. All the while, the fire inside her was still burning. It was thanks to this fire of hers that she caught the attention of the on-the-run group who would later call themselves the Rogues. The group was young and eager to recruit and she was hungry and alone. Unlike her life at the carnival, she actually felt accepted with the soon to be Rogues. She integrated herself into the group, accepted their beliefs as her own, and did everything to keep her unconventional family together. Even now she was still steadfastly loyal to them.
Significant Event in Life:
When the eclipse came in 2008, it was hard to ignore the fact that Carrie was a post-human. Her limbs stretched out for miles before her and all of a sudden, her whole body went limp. She screamed and cried for help but no one could do a thing for the pile of rubber-like limbs she was in. Truthfully, it seemed as though most of the carnies were more worried about their own ability either shutting down or going out of control. She never asked for the others to be there for her, but since they had been forcing the whole whole family ideal down her throat all the time she had expected them to pull through this once for her. Needless to say, she has held a grudge against the carnival ever since.

Name: Spencer Carlin
Age: 25
Ability: Invincibility
The power in which one is immune or highly resistant to all forms of external physical damage.
Internal damage (poison, psychic power, etc.) is the only weakness. Invulnerability does not mean immortality.
 Rogue
Withdrawn
Tactful
Humble
Elusive
Opportunistic
"People have turned their noses up at me my whole life and I'm sick of it."
Background:
It started off with some soup cans. Small family owned shops were easiest since they didn’t have the detectors that the big chain markets had. Nobody every noticed one or two things missing from inventory now and then, and as long as Spencer was careful, her parents didn’t suspect anything either. But it wasn’t like they were going to raise an eyebrow over actually having some warm food on the table. In the simplest terms, Spencer’s family was poor. but that label didn’t paint the full picture of how life was for her family. They were struggling day in and day out. Her parents probably had it worst with their jobs at the factory. With their combined wages, they were barely able to make it through another month. As for Spencer, as she got older, she stopped caring about the strange looks and whispers directed at her for wearing the same clothes or never being able to afford lunch. Eventually she stopped caring about the law as well when she took up shoplifting food items for the family. Petty theft came easy for her no matter where she went.
Things took a turn for the worse when she discovered her ability on a simple run to get food and drinks to celebrate her dad’s pay raise. It was hard to keep news down once it had already spread like wildfire. All of the theft cases started lining up and all evidence pointed at her. With both her track record and news of her ability being out there, she became a beacon. She wrote a note to her parents to apologizing for keeping so many secrets from them over the years and for leaving them, but at least now they wouldn’t have an extra mouth to feed and she can finally travel like she always dreamed of.
It was hard for Spencer to go anywhere without feeling like she being watched. She went from running away from home to being on the run from a bounty hunter, Bruce Allen. She was quick and resourceful but he had experience on his side. Luckily, she ran into some familiar faces she had seen on TV not too long ago when the blackout took place. She pleaded to the Horsemen to save her and ever since they took her in, she has been a faithful member of the Rogues.
Significant Event in Life:
It was something Spencer had done many times before. She had picked out a store she had never been to to avoid being recognized and was going to just take some ham and cider then bolt out of there. The shop keeper, however, was more temperamental than the others she had met. He held a gun at her, warning her to not do anything while he phoned the police. Not wanting to cause any trouble, she told him she was going to pay for the food with the bus fare she was going to use to get home if he’d let her go. But when she reached in her coat pocket, the man preemptively shot her. To both of their dismay, she was unharmed. Taking advantage of the man being in shock, she started running home.

WANTED CHARACTER Home | Ask | Plot | Characters
Name: Ernst Drescher
Age: 31
Abilities: Phoenix Mimicry
The ability to fly, produce healing tears, wield fire, and the obvious, reincarnation from one’s ashes.
Limits: May need time to regenerate. Needs lots of control and training.
Rogue
 Unforgiving
Passionate
Committed
Crafty
Flippant
“You’re all fighting a losing battle against the nature of humanity and evolution. The ultimate victory will always go to the better men.”
Background:
Ernst Drescher was a miracle man. He worked a sideshow act as part of a traveling gypsy troupe, dancing in flames and performing truly magical acts of aerial prowess with no apparent wires or nets. He’d been raking in money for them since they bought him from his parents at the age of six. Apparently the old German couple didn’t want a son that could roast them alive at the slightest provocation. Ernst, though, did his best not to think on that. He did his best not to think on a lot of things—like the way the gypsies insisted that he was part of the family, yet left him out of the best celebrations, and only truly gave him attention when they wanted him to take care of some of their extra chores.
It seemed that, though the many audiences they entertained displayed nothing but adoration for his skills, even his so-called new family saw him as he saw himself. A freak. It was clear from the moment that his abilities manifested that he wasn’t like the rest of the human race, even the friendlier fellow who threw knives with a precision that couldn’t be natural. So, he stuck to running errands, getting to explore the cities that they found themselves in, and avoiding the situations where his innate differences would be most apparent. It never quite sat right with him, though, and that feeling of estrangement festered, curdling with the knowledge that no one really saw or understood or trusted him, and probably never would.
He had a few short relationships, one or two that ended the moment he made flame instead of just dancing in it, some others that lasted only so long as he was in a certain city, and none that made him feel any more connected to the world around him. That is, until a certain English boy attempted to seduce him by butchering a few phrases of German (and succeeded). It turned out that Richard Grayson was a telepath—a freak like himself, one among many as Ernst came to find out, and a man capable of seeing him for exactly who he was. However, when the relationship ended poorly, after Ernst left the gypsies and they moved in together, Ernst’s state of being took a turn for the worse once more.
A few years passed, and life found Ernst in America, taking to the nomadic lifestyle he was so used to and picking up small jobs here and there, living out of his old rustbucket of a truck. Resentment was building and festering within him once again, though, and eventually he snapped. When the Rogues found him in California, he was a pillar of fire in front of a terrified group of civilians, and it took barely any effort at all to recruit him for the cause.
Significant Event in Life:
The first time that Ernst met Richard Grayson, he thought he was charming, if a bit bumbling and distracted. The second time they met, Richard looked right at him and saw through every layer of humor that Ernst could think to erect in his own defense. The troupe was only destined to be near Cambridge for a few weeks, but when Richard offered him a place to stay just in case, Ernst said yes without any hesitation. He left the troupe behind, feeling the freedom to really be himself for the first time. The high of new beginnings and redefining himself didn’t last forever though, and two months later, despite being head-over-heels in love, his relationship with Richard ended. More specifically, Richard walked out on him with little to no explanation, and left him stranded in the middle of England with no workable résumé and no one to help him at the age of 24. All of the positive feelings that had been blossoming in Richard’s presence turned on their heel, and Ernst found himself hating the world more than ever before.

Name: Danny Eisinger
Age: 21
Ability: Energy Manipulation
The ability to generate and manipulate different types of energy. Users can convert one type of energy into another (heat, light, sound), store it within their bodies, and release it upon command. Some users can create objects from pure energy, or project it out in other forms. (Think Green Lantern)

Rogue
Patient
Loyal
Dedicated
Gullible
Protective
"I don’t have much anymore, but I’ll use every bit of energy in my body to protect what I have left.
Background:
Born into a large German family in a small village two hundred kilometers from Munich, Danny thought he was never going to be anything but ordinary. His parents were grain farmers, employed by the local breweries to grow barley and hops. They (and most of their children) had never finished high school. In the village it was respectable to settle into the life Danny’s parents lived; in fact, it was almost compulsory. The Eisinger family lived solely and happily off of the local brewery’s paychecks, wanting nothing more than to live their simple, refreshing lives in peace and see their children married and healthy. Danny’s father taught all of his children how to labor the fields and to work hard and dilligently without any complaints. Danny loved tilling the fields and working with his hands; being so far away from civilization, friends were hard to come upon. Everything seemed to be working smoothly until Danny turned twelve, and the brewery filed for bankruptcy. Out of jobs and with no use for their land, the Eisingers sold their house and moved their family to the US.Â
Life in America was difficult for the small blonde boy with a thick accent. Danny wanted to make friends, but being different at that age made him a target for bullying. The boys at his middle school would tease him, call him names, shove him up against the lockers until someone intervened. A short dirty blonde girl with the most wicked scowl scared all the mean boys away with a few threats and a dirty look. Just like that, and she was lifting Danny up with an outstretched hand. They recognized each other: she was his neighbor, the girl in the big grey house on the cliff. Danny and Brie (her name, he soon learned) became inseparable, and in a few months the bullying stopped completely. To Danny, Brie was enigmatic, something he’d never in his wildest dreams think of but also warm, protective and sweet to the people she cared about. With this friendship, the Kelley family helped the Eisingers settle in to normal American life.Â
Six years pass by in a flash and suddenly Danny and Brie are high-school graduates, off to do whatever they pleased. It all seemed so perfect—until the hurricane came early and ruined everything. Danny, Brie, and Brie’s younger sister, Elyssa, were playing on the lawn while their parents ventured out to get food for the next few days. When the winds began to pick up and trees began to fall, Danny knew something was wrong. Sheltering the two girls in his parent’s basement, the three were unprepared when uncontrollable floods of water started to rush through the broken windows. In sheer panic, Danny’s ability arose. He created a life raft for Brie and himself; unfortunately, Elyssa did not survive. After searching for their parents unsuccessfully, Danny decided it would be best for her and Brie to grab a car and leave. It would do them no good to stay in a place that was rife with the dead.Â
Ever since, Danny and Brie have been on the road stealing, pilfering, and looting whatever they can. Their lifestyle is nothing like the simple German countryside; sometimes Danny wishes he could go back, but that would mean leaving his best friend alone and unprotected. Like Brie, Danny would do anything to protect Brie—anything.Â
Significant Event in Life:
One night Danny briefly left to steal some food for the he and Brie to have in the morning. When he came back he discovered a man in their hotel room who had broken in through the window. In a fit of rage and fear, Danny pulled the man outside (careful not to wake Brie up and scare her) and proceeded to beat him up senselessly. He asked the man if he had touched Brie. The man spat in his face and said that he only looked to steal some stuff. While Danny relaxed into his relief the other man fought Danny off, saying that he was going to rob them for all they were worth then kill off “his little girlfriend.” Danny ended up killing him instead, grabbing Brie and then driving off. It was after that night that he knew the true extent he’d go to to keep her safe.
